I know this is a long shot but I figured I’d post. Something let go inside my Volvo-Penta SX outdrive on my boat last night. It let go with lots of clunking/grinding and it now has no forward or reverse and when you spin the prop by hand it’s not nice and smooth like it should be. Not a fun way to wind down the boating season.
I was in 18 feet of water just coming off plane so I know I didn’t touch bottom. Something just let go under acceleration stress. I was thinking it seemed a little louder than normal but it was no where near enough that I was concerned or even sure it wasn’t just in my head that it was louder. I got home and pulled the dipstick and it’s just slightly off the full mark, well within operating range.
A kind boater towed us back to that launch behind Cayuga island and I had a friend come pick me up and drive me over to my truck/trailer at Niawanda. When we broke down we were pretty much right in front Sandy Beach boat club right near the N. GI bridge.
Talked to a buddy who used to sell boats and is good friends with a boat mechanic and he said my best bet was going right back to Collins. Guess they’ve got the best Volvo guy in the area. That’s where I figured I’d end up since I bought the boat there and have always had good luck with them for the little bit of service I’ve needed.
^ It gets better. A buddy of mine was with me, with his 10 year old daughter, and his 16 year old German exchange student who had never been on a powerboat before and just got here on Saturday. When I fail, I fail big. :pat:
The age of consent in Germany is 14, as long as a person over the age of 21 does not exploit a 14–15 year-old person’s lack of capacity for sexual self-determination. In this rare and special case, a conviction on an individual over the age of 21 requires a complaint from the younger individual; being over 21 and engaging in sexual relations with a minor of that age does not constitute an offense in and of itself. Otherwise the age of consent is 16.
