Thanks to everyone who showed up - the event was a total success, and we’ll look forward to giving folks more opportunites to break their cars shortly. :E

this is phat240

i call bullshit on the fastest time… was that when u guys opened up the track after a bunch of people left.

Nope, the track was never modified. I was in favor of opening the track to allow some faster fun runs, but most of the drivers wanted to keep the same layout so they could beat their faster times.

All the times recorded here were done under the same track as all the others.

Wow, I expected the Super 7 to be much faster.

I think because of the course layout power had a lot to to with his time.

Apart from a hell of a good time, this was a very educational day.

With all the bench racing that goes on out there in enthusiast-land, it was really cool to see the differences in performance from the heavily modified to completely stock cars. Without any experience in this I had no idea from looking at the variety of cars that were out there what kinds of times would be posted and how one car would compare to others. Would a more powerful car with crap handling out perform a stock engine with the right suspension. What about power to weight ratio? How much would tires effect results? what about FWD vs RWD vs AWD? Etc? Etc? Etc?

It was really enlightening. If we assume that driving ability was “about the same” for all of us given that I think most of us were on our first event of this type, we can zero out driver ability (more or less). With driver ability out of the equation it was quite telling to witness the time vs set up equation. No wonder a purpose built autocross BMW did so well not that it would have been bad if it hadn’t been set up as it was. (killer car by the way).

You know what this means guys? This means you now have actual justification for spending so much money on your cars!

What an awesome day.

Cheers boys!

p.s. Oh and since a stockish VW kicked our butts time wise I guess that whole driver ability thing can’t be factored out! Rats!

Oh ya, and where are all the other GTRs? If I am right I believe there are at least three other NECC members that own one. It would have been nice to see you guys out to compare results to.

Next time???

Maybe I am the only one dumb enough to thrash such a difficult and expensive to fix car.

yeah Dave, it appears GTR’s break down! you would have thought that.

I would have come out but I was awaiting two new air flow meters.
We will be organizing a GTRC meet in a unknown amount of time.

Looks like you guys had fun. Hopefully I can make the next one.

I’m up for the next one :E Just don’t expect the GTR to make up for my driving abilities!

That was a great event, i hope we can put on another one once my car is ready so i dont have to beg Kris to drive his bumble bee. :stuck_out_tongue:

Leave my annoying insect alone, Flavio.

I think next time we’ll be looking at giving more fair warning so peeps can sign up. And yes people, bring your GT-R’s. They aren’t mommy mobiles like Sentras.

I think the super 7 wasn’t as fast as everyone thought because Bob was taking it easy on the car. He was having oil pump issues, so I can understand that he’d want to take it easy. Once he gets it healthy, it should set much much faster times.

Yeah you could really tell he wasn’t pushing the car to the limit. But who can blame him!

Wait til you own a dr30… than you will know what is difficult to fix :frowning:

I am not going to own anything more expensive that the RB26. Anyone have a spare rebuilt GTR alternator laying around? Oh and the shims for the valvetrain? Oh and a new oil pressure sensor. Oh and…

Point made.

Woo I had a great time. Even though I was one of the slowest  We must do this more often. Where are all the pictures? I have a few, but my camera isn’t here.

Steve you did awesome for a completely stock 240sx. Nice work.

Thank you :E

Here’s the few photos I took. Wish I got some action shots.

I know this is a little off topic, but I have video on website now of the 1st province wide NEC meet, someone pm me and lemme know is they can actually see this movie, and I will have a video of the Hotlap Event on my site very soon.

I can view your other movies but the NECC.MOV will not play, tried to play it on your site and even save target. Still nothing!! And I have all the quicktime plugins and other codecs. Still wouldn’t work.
