Yep… that about sums it up. Thats what got me started.
wrenching on dirt bikes started it,
then from there it was takings cars past there limits, and fixing them afterwards.
a dsm or jeep will make anyone into a mechanic
I just started watching my dad and my brother work on cars. Im still learning everyday, little by little
Everyone is bro … Nobody knows it all … Not even close
See that’s how I got into cars in the first place. My grandfather owned a pontiac dealership, so ever since I was old enough to be taken places until I was about 10 I was in the garage, and sitting in the showroom cars. After he passed, I kinda lost my only hope at having a close relative to teach me stuff. I have been so eager to learn ever since, but nobody else in my family is mechanically inclined whatsoever lol. Like I said before if anyone here is planning on a work day, I would love to come observe, or be an extra set of hands! Thanks so much guys for continuing to help me and not just calling me a noob, even though I am a huge one. :hsdance:
vw16v hit the nail on the head. working in a shop will give you mechanical skills you can’t get anywhere else but if you don’t understand how shit works (read read read) then your just a parts changer
Sooooo true
do things at first where it just requires unbolting and bolting. use a torque wrench where required, then jump into larger projects like your brakes and suspension, then ask around for help and learn from the nice person/people who help you. ask questions.
