How did you pick your career?

So,how did you pick your career/decide what to do for a living?

I am having the worst time figuring out what I want to do and what college to go to.I want my money to be well spent,I’d like to get a degree in something that has a plentiful job market.

Take jobs in things you are interested in. You might find you dont like it like I did. Just talk to people. Thats how I found my field and I love it.

i like getting fucked by men… so i went to gay porn

combination of what i like, what i’m good at, and what i can make enough money in to live my desired lifestyle. Lack of any one of them ruins it.
My choice went something like
Football Player/Porn star:
I like playing football and fucking sluts, i can make lots of money doing either, but i’m not jacked and lex steele has me by a good margin. OUT

Lawyer:
I’d be a really good one, I could make a ton of money, but i hate writing. OUT

Alcoholic:
I can drink more than most people should, I enjoy doing so, but alas, not a well-paying job. Best kept to weekends. OUT

Investment Banker:
Enjoy dealing with money, especially large amounts, and negotiating, I’m damn good at it, and there is bank to be made. IN

My advice: Don’t do something you love for a living, ie. working on cars for some people on here, could possibly cause them to lose interest in their own cars.

i went for something smelly, hot in the summer, and cold in the winter
lol but i did not know these things 2 years ago.
i just kind of jumped into it, went to school for it, and got my certifications. i am now a welder.

read “The Millionaire Next Door”

it will help you guide your life and choices… i wish i read it a long time ago

I used contacts to get in the door, and my career just developed from there. I dont exactly like what I do, but fun jobs dont exactly pay the bills.

Honestly man, even if you decide on one thing now, you will probably still change ur mind down the road.

When they say that 75%(made that up) of people change their major in college, they arent lying. Funny thing is, when I started going for engineering, I was all like" theres no way im changing my major, I know what I wanna do". HAH I ended up changing alright. I do Computer Science now, something I NEVER forsaw myself getting into, but I really like my major and I def. do not regret it.

My advice: It would be the best investment in the world for you to test things out and find something you REALLY want to do. Nothing would be worse then spending 40+ hours/week doing something you really hate to do, and thinking back wondering “what if” I HAD changed my major in my 3rd year?

i loved law/crime and having the facts on cases/crimes and applying the written law to them. i loved reading about court cases etc…

so i work at a law firm. go figure

Well, I can tell you one thing. I’ve played tennis since I was 5, and could teach it (as I have in the past) and make a lot more money than I do at my day job. I’ve just done tennis for so long, I don’t think I’d want to to do it for the rest of my life.

I love aircraft, so it was a good fit for me.

+1

I work to live not live to work. I enjoy my job and could never see myself doing something 40 hours a week that I hate but I look forward to Sat/Sun a lot more than Mon-Fri. But my job pays very well, I’m good at it, and it allows me to afford the things I really enjoy when I’m not working.

IT management…

people keep giving me jobs in the field… I’m good at it, I don’t really like it that much though, wish I did something else
