I was just wondering if it is hard to remove the gas tank, and how difficult is it to replace the fuel pump? Has anyone ever done it before? Also, has anyone ever replaced the injectors on a KA?
You don’t have to take off the gas tank to get at the fuel pump. Just open the little access door in the floor of your trunk and pull out the sending unit.
he ho, polex is right, its that patch in the trunk. and this is a tech question, FAQ’s and How-to’s are for people to post, how to do something, not ask questions on how to do something.
Regarding the Injectors is it a KA24E (SOHC 12v) or KA24DE (DOHC 16v)?
sorry guys :(…arite i will post in ‘how to section’ next time…so the fuel pump is located in the trunk…under a patch…is it difficult to remove and replace?
He said post in the Tech section, not the HOW-TO section. It’s a pull out, replace and drop in job.
Walbro fuel pumps go for about $140 CAD.
thx for the correction…doesn’t the Walbro Fuel pump make you run more rich?
Nope thats what the fuel pressure regulator is for.
Once again regarding the Injectors is it a KA24E (SOHC 12v) or KA24DE (DOHC 16v)?
KA24DE…how hard is it to replace a fuel pressure regulator?..thinking about getin a Walbro…?
No, your fuel pressure regulator thats already on your engine will regulate the pressure of the fuel coming from the Walbro pump. You could upgrade, but really, there isnt a point in upgrading to a higher flowing pump if you have no power upgrades that require more fuel.
One word of advice…
Try to drive your car until your tank’s almost empty before doing this.
Otherwise, you will find your hands deep under highly flamable gasoline.
When I did my fuel pump install, I waited until the tank was completely empty before I did it.
A Siphon also will do the trick if the tank is full and the car is un-drivable.
thanks guys… i will check it out this weekend and install a fuel pump (originally from an s14)…has anyone replaced their fuel pump…and knows any tips i need for a succesful install?
Ahhh, so that’s how the sending unit looks without 10 years worth of rust on it!
so u just remove the screws disconnect the wires and swap pumps?..is it that easy or am i blind? …lol?
