How is Fiamma Steak?

Who can vouch?

Approximate price of an entree?

I’m looking for a place for my moms 50th. She wants a nice dinner, not a party.

I haven’t personally been there yet, but I’ve heard it was good.

I just talked to a stylist about it last nght. She said the food is excellent but the service sucks. The waiters are stuck up pricks mere interested in themselves then serving. She has been there a few times. Also about $80 per person by the time you walk out.

$80/person for poor service…I think I’ll pass. Any recommendations?

Laughlins (sp) over on franklin its almost across from the chophouse , good food nice atmosphere, 20ish a plate for most things. Maybe the empire grill i havent been there yet but everyone that ive talked to that has gone liked it.

the food there is fantastic, never had a problem with service and the bartenders were also very nice…and it is expensive but i def drank/ate and did not spend 160 dollars

:word: (edited)

But, I have heard otherwise from friends who went other times. So, I guess its hit or miss on service maybe?

I like Mothers since the layout and atmosphere is cozy. Food is good. You woul want to go at a time when the bar crowd there is at a minimum. It gets noisy at times and I hate that.

Papaya is nice. I heard they diversified their menu some. Might be worth a look.

Dock at the Bay is very nice…view of the water. Super in the summer time. Im not sure about now but the dining hall is lined in glass so it should still have appeal.

The food at Empire is good. Its on Hertel and opened a little while ago. I thought the architecture had a cold feel to it. …maybe it was the draft from the single doors every time someone walked in. Sit upstairs or closer to the center of the restaurant and you should be good.

This is my buddies website and it can help you choose. He doesnt have every restaurant in Buffalo signed up yet but quite a few. Menus and pricing are listed.

empire is okay…laughlins is okay…but its a different level of a restaurant…not dogging either of them, food is tasty…but its like saying tempo has great italian food but its expensive so i recommend olive garden

btw the $80 is a realistic figure for wine, drinks, ect included

if you want to go somewhere really nice thats not a loud bar atmosphere i say fiddleheads is great food and its not too expensive, on franklin/allen

I’m with him on this. Just don’t expect fast service. LOL

One of my favorites. Especially real, real late.

depends what you’re looking for, mothers is great, but i think its a little bit different style than fiamma if thats what he’s going for.

What about Old Red Mill on main st , ive never had a bad meal or anything there, That would stay at or around the 80 a person for food drink etc…

menu at their site… http://www.redmillinn.com/default.htm

Oh and they re-open the end of the month:

I thought they had good food. Easily $120+ for two people with drinks.

That was 2-3 years ago.

The Coda! I don’t know if my mom would appreciate blueberry popcorn flavored ice cream.

Did anything worthwhile open up in Lord Chumley’s?

Oh and thanks for the link/info, Violator. I’ve been to Empire and was not very impressed. I’m looking more upscale than that. There’s a place in Niagara on the Lake that we like that we may go to–the service/food is excellent and it’s more what we’re looking for. Don’t really want to drive out that way though…

Ooooh how is Oliver’s? The last time I went there it seemed like everybody from Black Rock had gotten their tax returns back and decided to go. But the food was delicious.

Lol … well put

:frowning: I will find something!
