See all you hard parkers at the track :wavey:
Still touching the babies? :P
Was it you that talked to me on MSN about the part numbers?
Part numbers for what? Babies?
I would like a GT2871R baby please.
:noes:
:noes:
Actually I got nothing. Stock KA with a few suspension goodies here and
there. No different then most here. Hopefully my driving skills have improved.
Either ways, :wavey:
I was just bustin balls.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the track… though as far as I know most of you will be doing drift events. I will not.
lets make a vote on how long my stock p-plate will hold with my exedy clutch disc, i say 6 maybe 7 clutch kicks, it already sucks poophole i can push them in with my pinky fingers
actually it looks like the majority have the snail under the hood, interesting

Yep, most here seem to be turbo.
id love to line up all the turbo cars and look at the differences…
GT
And then HEAR the differences.
I have to say that I am truely impressed by the sheer number of boosted cars on this site.
It would be sweet to know the total combined horsepower and TQ of this club.
For example: 35 members already say they are boosted, assuming an average of 210 to the wheels…that’s already 7350 rwhp … that’s pretty cool.
Another cool thing is that people with SRs are not the only ones running boost…
he he…yeah that was a while ago, though even at that time with 10psi teh car was fun to toot around in
Adams is the first turbo car i road in. i think it was only makin 240 - 280WHP at the time, but still, changed my life forever. Thanks Adam

actually i am running 245’s all the way around now in the turbo car and it pushes slightly in the corners still under just cornering, but can be oversteered with the throttle.
i really think you guys underestimate the severe ADVANTAGE that torque has…when comparing the SR’s to the turbo KA’s. Alot of time can be made up using that torque to launch out of the corners…and can get you out of mistakes very easily
here is a dyno at 13.6psi and with my old smaller turbo… during racing i shift about 5900RPM… the car really leaps with little effort… the fastest car that i could beat last year was a race prepared Porsche GT3 with hoosiers, though he had a bit on me in the corners i was owning him on the straights.
As far as who will have quicker times…street based cars will have a very hard time keeping up with even my new NA ka24e powered 240sx, for the very reason that the suspension is dialed in for the track, and i am on R tires (as some of you saw last year lapping phillips 240sx(now mine) even on a street based suspension was able to keep up and beat SR powered cars that had over 80hp+ on it). If you are not on R tires and not using proper camber you will have to have a very silly amount of power to keep up.
My turbo 240sx on nelson can do 52’s, and the NA powered 240sx can do 55-56’s … i would think a stock 240sx would be in the 59-61’s…
anyway…most of the time saved in racing will be with suspension and tuning of the suspension and tires… a SR vs a KA24e …the power wont make as much of a difference as the suspension will… IMO
re: crate motor…thats a ways off, since its gonna be a $15-20k motor transplant…and the KAT is still together even after 3 years of racing on it
Actually he’s running 225’s on the front, and 245’s on the rear, R compounds…
I’d imagine that subjects Adams car to some understeer, worse then the s13 already has…
Greg’s car is practically at the same stage as Adams car in terms of work done to it suspension wise, and is currently in the process of getting caged.
The difference between them is the turbo and the motor. Adam with the advantage of a turbo that stays cooler and flows more, and some extra displacement, but Greg will close the gap with good tuning.
Either way it’s irrelevant because Adam is getting rid of his KA-T setup anyways in lue of a V8 Crate…
If you look at it… the cars aren’t really all that far apart at all. Besides, calling a car race prepped is subjective anyways…
BTW when is the SON240sx lapping day anyway? so i can book it off
anyone know?
Aye
Torque helps smooth out errors in driving. Guess that means he just can’t make any mistakes…
I understand the usefullness of tq, but it still comes down to drivers ability…
Susupension and Tires are the most underrated areas on any race or performance oriented car…
I think you’ll find that more often then not, people set their car up with race settings and still drive it on the street… that includes alignment, suspension dampening and rates, and the overall ergonomics and in few cases, attention to detail.
There is more to it then what’s being discussed here, but I think you underestimate the lengths people are going to for a street car in recent years…
BTW I hear you met Justin?
Adam, those are realy impressive numbers. That Ka sure is lasting a long time. Stock internals right?
I lack this “displacement” thing :? (well in comparison to others)
yeah i met justin at the solo 1 sign up, he is going to try to field a skyline…should be interesting… though i think he may be dissapointed at first on how slow he will be vs some of the other cars…but its a learning process…hopefully he sticks with it, since thats not really a great car to field as your first race car. i think he ended up in a very competitive class vs some good vetran drivers. another guy is coming out in a 350Z, he seems to think its going to be quick as well…anyway we see this every year so its no suprize
its hard to beat experiance and seat time
yeah…there is a reason why alot of the great race cars all are small light and have big V8’s stuffed into them (thats why i think the 240sx could be like a new age cobra)
yeah torque can save your butt, on missed shifts, bad line entrance/exit… try to do that in a S2000 or honda…its alot harder
yeah suspension and seat time is the key…you need very silly amounts of power to out run a well tuned suspension based car.
thats why i am going to run the NA 240sx this year so i can get a full race season in without any part failures, and just have fun driving…
the S13 as a race chassis is very nice to drive when coupled with the NA powerplant, its a joy to drive, VS my turbo car.
chris has a KA-T and although i pulled a faster 1/4 mile his car just “FEELS” so much faster…
it’s all that extra torque down low, makes a huge difference and puts your head in the seat pretty nicely too
nope sorry not stock internals, forged pistons and rods, and almost everything else you can do to the bottom end.
no way would it have survived this long on a stock long block…
yeah i agree power wise i am more than happy with the results its putting out over 3 times its stock power output…though the car is VERY hard to drive at these power levels and is a real handfull…it is a dangerous car and has become very twitchy with the power and torque that it has…and is undriveable in the rain…but it is a real strong runner when its not catching on fire or breaking parts
i was scared enough from it to install a huge 3 nozzle AFF fire supression system in it last year…and wear full nomex when driving it.
i mean it really is silly trying to boost the engine that much and race on it…i have been thinking about turning it into a drag car since the stresses are much lower… will see
