How Much Do You Download?

Not really sure how much, but it’s a lot.

Ugh. Been downloading the forbidden kingdom bluray all day at 100kbps off usenet. I need to upgrade my internet here.

Hopefully Verizon will let me max out the DSL for a few months and when I move out allow my roommates to go back to the 768kbps without messing up a contract.

I go through spurts, my 10/1 Roadrunner does not really get tapped that much. I have been considering subscribing to giganews and commence with the download whoring.

My dad bleeds every last drop out of his connection, warez king I swear downloads shit he will never need.

Between television shows and xbox games, probably over 100GB a month.

I feel bad for you guys, my newsgroup connections are around 1200kbs down. a 7gb disc in less than 2 hrs

speedtest.net is showing full 5mbps down, so I dont really know. I am going to try bypassing the router. Although, desktop machine to server I get around 12mbps

from what Unison is saying, I am maxing out at 600Kbps per second. Not to be confused with 600KBps.

B != b

I am saying that my downloads are maxing at 600 kilo-bits per second. I will double check tonight that I have been reading a little b, not a big B.

edit: good lord I just tested my connection at work, I wish I could download shit on this connection:

my internet is too slow to dwnload

^^^cant be that slow you posted 8 times in under 5 min on 8 diff topics???

Desktop -> Server is using the switch in your router. In and out traffic uses the NAT tables and processing of a router which might be slower. I found that my old netgear as a switch I could push 10MBps through it but as soon as I went out to the internet port, I only could get about 1.5MBps before it was pegged on the processor.

If you are getting 600kbps, then you are on a awful connection and something is screwing you up. 600/8 is only ~75KBps download which is slower than my home cheapo DSL connection right now.

Call your provider and get your specs on your plan.

I have done multiple runs on speedtest.net. The connection is pushing my full limit. I am on Time Warner Business Class.

yeah man way too slow for roadrunner. call them and get it looked at.

why would speedtest.net report 5mbps though?

first, what are the advertised speeds of your business plan?

5mb down/768kb up

the speedtest is posted somewhere else, let me find it
