How often do you remove your contacts

Some contacts are designed to be worn continuously for about a month or couple weeks. I take mine out every night, though.

No, some contacts are designed to be THROWN AWAY after a month. You’re not supposed to sleep overnight in contacts. Everyone who leaves them in for months should probably invest in lasik or something.

and lawl @ dawn for saying the brand and not the type, idiot.

To prevent future confusion: your contacts will get a protein build up (especially dawn, that tramp) and become dirty and start to break down if you don’t remove them to wash them. Also, sleeping in any non gas-permeable contact for any period of time cuts off oxygen, your eyes need to breath.

Most extended wear lenses are FDA approved to be worn without removal for up to seven days. A newer type of soft contact lens material, silicone hydrogel, is considered “super-permeable,” and some lenses made from this material are approved for up to 30 days of wear without removal.

Soft contact lenses come in two basic forms—daily wear and extended wear. Both lenses are made from thin, flexible, material and water. Daily-wear lenses must be removed, cleaned and stored every day. Extended-wear lenses are designed for overnight wear. However, there may be an increased risk of infection associated with extended-wear lenses for some people.

Extended-wear soft lenses offer the same advantages as daily-wear lenses. These lenses may be worn for an extended period, up to a week. However, due to the risk of infection associated with extended use, daily removal and cleaning is recommended

You’re argument about infection risk does not invalidate the fact that there are contacts designed to be worn continuously for about a month.

You’re going to argue that it’s safer to leave contacts in for a month than it is to remove and clean daily?

Plus the human factor, if you can forget about them and leave them in for a month, you’ll forget about them for more than just 30 days.

edit: I’m now ok with sleeping in your contacts over night if they’re the specific super-permeable ones and you don’t exceed the maximum interval

BUT REMOVE AND WASH YOUR CONTACTS YOU RETARDS

I agree with this and even though my contacts are “safe” to wear overnight, I take them out and clean them daily.

I was just clarifying the information in this thread. There are products out there with the ability to be worn overnight. Previous to this one, I don’t see where I ever expressed any opinion about contact use in my posts.

laser eye surgery FTW!

sorry, not directed at you

Khoveraki, fuck off. I don’t give a fuck what you do with your eyes, so leave mine the fuck alone. I haven’t had any problems wearing mine for awhile, so Ill keep doing. Maybw I’m not one of those “some people” who have a high risk of infection.

i take them out every day. and change them every 3 weeks. along with my contact cases

and btw. no contacts are good to sleep with. even though they say it.

x2

All of you with soft lenses are lucky, my old eyes and bad astigmatism mean I need to wear gas perm hard lenses

I delete the people I dont talk to in my phone book probably every half a year… I just hate how cluttered it gets with people I will never talk to again…

WAIT WAT

I used to be stupid and leave them in for a week at a time. I’m paying for it now…I can’t really wear contacts at all anymore due to a bad infection. My eye doctor basically told me I developed an allergy to the protein buildup on the lenses and I had to switch to glasses. I can occasionally wear daily contacts now but they’re so expensive I just wear my glasses now. Maybe that will change come summer and I want to wear sunglasses. Right now I have transition lenses and the sun is tolerable.

I’ve been so mad at myself for basically causing this too :picard:

just be thankful that both of your eyes are still functional.

Wow I dunno how anyone goes longer than like 12 hours with them in. When I take mine out I can feel the air on my eyes and it feels so great.

I used to sleep with mine in, then one night one dried onto my eyeball causing a nice ulcer…

they come out everynight before I go to bed

First of all, who are you? You’ve been making snotty little comments all fucking week. Real sweet.

And what do you mean type? I said I wear disposable lenses in my first or second post. Disposable lenses are soft lenses. Is that what you mean with type? Are you an optician? Is that why your panties are in a bunch about this thread?

^ hes trying to be cool dawn.
