How to fix floor jack

All of a sudden my floor jack doesnt lift much and when it does it wont stay up on its own. I tired to add some tranny fluid to the fill hole but Im not sure if I am doing it correctly. Its a cheapie but it works great for what I need it for

It kinda looks like this:

with the removable handle that is used to open/shut the valve to let it down.

get a new one, you will never fully trust it again

I never trust a jack anyways. I always use jack stands…

Its probably a seal that blew out. For what a jack costs its not worth the BS to try and fix it. Just pony up for a new one.

the seal is leaking on the valve that lowers the jack and that is why your jack lowers slowly. the O-rings are only pennies take it apart and replace it. Will take you ten min.
