Well my handbrake works like a charm but the wiring is fucked, so the handbrake light is always on. Well 90% of the time… when I’m going fast (like 100) it goes away but it’s basically always on even if the handbrake is down.
It seems as though there used to be an alarm in the car that was taken out, or something.
Anyways, is this an easy fix? How would I go about checking it out?
go right now and check your brake fluid
if thats low thats why your lights on and if your fluid is low you probably need brakes or you have a leak
also, if that dosent check out, put your e-break all the way up ( as far as the cable will let you anyway ) And remove your Ash tray…
Look at the Ebreak Assembly ( you need to look from the passenger side in ) and you will see the Pressure Sensor that he break hits when it is down… try moving it and see if the light will turn out, or if the wiring on the back of it has been tampered with…
Else, i would go with the first post
Hmm…i had a simmilar problem. The light was always on and when i installed my alarm at co op we figured out that the car reconizes when the handbrake is on or off but the lights messed in sum way(well we thought). Anyways going around turns it would randomly go on/off :? then eventually it just stayed on constantly. Down the road brake line blew going to the rear so i replaced the line from the ABS to the rear T splitter and bled all the brakes. Brakes worked again
and i noticed the light went out! Magic
