how to stroke an engine

i was planning on getting a 350 and stroking it to 383 but the number 327 sounds much better. can you stroke a 305 into a 327 somehow? and if so how?

y dont u just get a 327?

Destroke the 350.

350 = 4" bore 3.48" stroke
327 = 4" bore 3.25" stroke

305 = junk, probably can’t get shit for heads on them anyway…
3.74 bore 3.48 stroke

327 is a destroked 350

^ Troof.

well isnt that just fucked. i guess ill just go 383 then… i ccant seem to find a reasonable 350 block anywhere.

sort of, a true 327 is a stroke and bored 283, a 302 is a 283 crank in a 327 block

:tup:

I think 383 sounds much better than 327. :wink: Especially at wide-open throttle.

destroked 327 at 9K>>>> a 383

Canted valve 302 downshifting > destroked 327 at 9K :smiley:

Mustang>any Chevy exhaust:D

383’s are fun but there is more machine work involved. Make sure it is exactly what you want to do befor you start. A good head cam combination can make decent power our of a 350 and will be cheaper than going 383.

I had a 383 w/ vortec heads… haha it had a tiny bit of torque…

And as Stroked Z28 mentioned there is more machining involved, so make sure you get that done by a reputable (sp?) shop or your shit will blow up. Then you’ll be stuck with a 383CI paper weight.
Also be sure that when you buy all your shit (cam, heads, intake, stall, gears, etc…) that they match… Or youll end up with a car that “sounds” like pro street but goes about as good as a dodge Omni… So again just make sure your shit matchs and is machined correctly…

if 327 sounds good then get a 350 and put 327 badges one the car…

you’ll be just like the people who put 396 badges on their 502, only opposite.
