How VTEC actually works

i never could visualize how vtec actaully worked untill now, sadly i bet over 1/2 the people who have a vtec motor have no clue how it actually works pretty sick peice of animation right here

i always wondered how that noise was made.

cool

vtec what is that ?

i think i need to get some gtr badges for it to work on my car

VTEC FTL

Just buy a car with a motor that makes HP all the way through and not just above a given RPM…

JK but it took me a while to figure out how that shit worked… Had to watch a few vids too.

torque is where it’s at

torque i got some it just doesnt happen till about 7800 rpm

i love it

ok although this might be a little off topic, why dosent someone put the technology that goes into ricer engines into a big 500 block and just dominate. or maybe im an idiot. but nonetheless that is a really good vid and it explains alot.

why is it a ricer engine? cause some can spank ur car?

this is why

ive never seen that one before… this is the one ives seen posted all over the place:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/33AFEA46-D732-479C-A4AB-22E74118BB4A.htm

ricer engine :squint: just cause honda can build n/a and hold the title for the most hp per lt means its a ricer engine

see your the type of guy that give muscle car drivers a bad name

If you could create a dual cam cylinder head with ‘VTEC’ and put them on a small block chevy, the industry would turn upside down.

…quick food for thought:

good example -

-1981 Corvette, standard 5.7l engine rated 190hp.
4" bore x 3.48" stroke

-1993 Prelude VTEC, 2.2l engine rated at 190hp.
3.425" bore x 3.57" stroke

now ask yourself, how does an engine with less than half the displacement make the same horsepower? Simple. Cylinder head design.

Figure out how to put a pair of dohc vtec heads on a v8 and i guarrentee it will make power.

ive heard that the rl should be seeing a v8 in the near future i could only imagine what a blast that would be in a s2000 shell

here is a little more indebt explaination of vtechttp://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1689966

A 3.8 Liter v8 with DOHC VTEC would be about 250 lb-ft tq and 400 hp, rev to 8K and would sound like a Ferrari v8?

I’m sorry you mistook what i said. I meant to ask a question, and thats all, not to bash ricers. I actually respect the ability to create so much power from such a small source (as in displacement not stature). For your information i use the term ricer as a joke, not an insult, don’t get all uppity because you feel like you need to defend yourself from the world. Just for the record though, of all the vtec engines i have seen(albeit very few) they have only been in “foreign” (p.c. term for ricer) cars.

i know it would be great i would love that

im not all uppity about it i just dont understand you newbs who come on here and start your shitty drama :itr41:

o and just for the record my so called foreign car is built more in this country then any ford or chevy is

I’m not trying to start any drama, if you look at my original post i only asked a question. I did just compliment your car and its makers. Please calm down you are scaring the children.
