I have been dealing with nothing but issues with this transfer. Before the switch, I paid off my credit card, withdrew all my money from savings and checking and was told my accounts would be closed.
Come to find out that my account was never closed and that I was being charge on Overdraft charges from xbox trying to pull money out of an open account (xbox wont pull money from an account closed, they will send you notifications telling you it will be canceled if no payment is made.
I got this cleared up, they closed my accounts, nothing was charged to me/I paid nothing.
Next thing I know I’m getting notices from Key bank/collections that my account is $34 and some change over drafted and not paid.
I found out that they took over my account and have been charging $3 service fees for having a checking (remind you I closed my account with HSBC before the change ever happened)
I ended up going to Key, they couldnt even find my account on file. We called the collections, they told them to send it back to Key due to this account not existing or the fact that it should have never happened.
The lady told me it was all going to be closed out. I got a notice saying this and that I owe $0.
Got a letter in the mail from another collections agency asking me for the $34 and some change.
WTF. I feel like I’m being harrased for fucking $34 for an account that never was to be opened and should have never went to Key. Anyone having this issue and anyone know if there is anything I can threaten them with to get this the fuck done with. I’m really annoyed and looking for something else to do besides constantly being told one thing and finding out nothings been done.
Haven’t had this issue, but shitty collection places sell off their debt things to other agencies. And the worse ones, know that it is bad or can’t be collected and pass them along anyway. I don’t know if there is any legalities that you can threaten them with to get it dropped faster, other then going through the same thing over again with the new agency.
The part that irritates me the most…calling these places and hearing the recording saying that “all agents are busy, please stay on the line” about 5 times in honestly 30 seconds… if that. I want to break the phone system everytime it comes on. Clearly I know I’m waiting for someone after you tell me once, let alone twice in 5 seconds. Then you cant get a damn person on the phone, yet they want their money.
Must send a official letter to the collections company asking them to validate the debt; and make sure it is removed from your credit history (I’m sure it’s already on there); and that if they don’t they will be in violation of federal law, and that any further corespondence about the alleged account must be through certified mail.
There’s a forum that has a lot of information on it and essentially a form letter that’s posted. It takes some time, but it should stop it and remove it from your credit report. Also costs a few $$ as you have to send everything certified mail with delivery receipt.
Creditboards.com I think it is. There’s a few people who know the exact forum to go to for the letter/form to use.
Mine was the Town of Williamsville branch that changed to Key.
I stopped there on lunch. The lady couldnt believe again that its having to be looked at again. She said that the one lady took care of everything and that she indicated this to her as well. So we got on the phone with the collections… took the branch managers name, info…etc. They are pulling it again out of Collections and the account ($3 is what put me in collections… which added to $34) She said that they took certain info so that if Key tries to send it again to collections, they have to contact her first and ask why its been pulled.
I should be good. I’m sure in 2 weeks I’ll get another letter. lol
I’m assuming this is whats causing me issues with other banks. Usually when you hit a collections department, they red flag you from opening other accounts with other branchs. I know my credit was not bad… I pay everything right away and I havent missed payments.
You need to stay off the phone with the collection agency. CreditBoards will give you all the information you need on how to fight this. It will take weeks if not months to clear this up.
Pull your reports to find out whats being reported.
same thing happened to me too, with regards to garden village branch. i went to key in west seneca on union and seneca, spoke with a lady named Joyce, i had to call HSBC, have them re send me my last statement because i had already shredded all of my hsbc info showing my account was closed, take it to her personally, and she cut a check for the overdraft amounts and sent it out for me, very pleased with all of her help. this was about 3 weeks ago and i haven’t heard anything so all is well in my world.
Nothing but problems with the transition. For reference, we sold an incomplete portion of our network to First Niagara, who turned around, closed some, and then sold pieces to 3 more banks. There are a ton of behind the scenes actions for each of those transactions and basically a fuckload of moving parts that could go wrong, and many of them did.
And no, I had nothing to do with it, for those of you who want to punch me in the face you’ll have to find another reason
