yep, but people dont tale that into account … and hence the problem begins
Evolution*
agreed… both sides are just as bad IMHO.
My question is… where will it lead us? technology/science is a double edged sword
It will lead us to genetically engineering 1 magical animal that can supply us with ham, bacon, and pork!
That crazy Chamerlengo (sp?)…
lol a pegasus I hope
sure lisa some magical animal
I have no idea… but it honestly scares the crap out of me.
why? u will be long gone b4 u have to worry about anything like that…maybe your great, great, great…grandchildren will have a prob.
says who? theres things all around us that are harmful because of science (the internal combustion engine, atomic energy, diseases from man made products, ect)
Anybody here think that their life isn’t better for all that science has brought to it? Double edged sword my ass! Try going back 150 years and live without readily available electricity, or hell even 20 years without readily available computers. Even technology is subject to Darwinism. Mankind will naturally weed out those technologies that do not improve our lives and drive those that do.
Medecine and medical technology alone make science worth it. I will never ever consider science a bad thing. Science does not align with anyone, does not do harm. The people controlling the development of science do harm. The people who abuse science do harm.
not disagreeing because everyday someone dies from a manmade contraption or from scientific exploration/experimentation. that shit happens now let alone years from now. my point is that in the distant future (provided there isnt a nuclear holocoust) is the only time anyone will suffer even the possibilities of anything to worry about.
Meh, they were probably saying the same thing 1000 years ago based on fears of this new weapon of mass destruction known as a “trebuchet.” Technology will always ultimately result in progress.
We’re not going to nuke ourselves into oblivion. We would have done that in the early days of the technology if we were going to. We’re not going to develop a technology so dangerous it does more harm than good. I mean, look at how easily it is to kill yourself with electricity versus how many people actually get hurt by it? We learn new technologies, including respect for them and how to use them safely, otherwise the technology will die out. Tesla dreamed of wireless power transmission, but it was waaaay to easily to kill someone with it so the idea died.
I really enjoy the irony of people on an automotive forum afraid of science and technology.
u could have sold that on eBay and got big bucks for it!
I never said science is fraud. But you also have to put into perspective that a few houndred years ago science said the earth was flat, and if you were sick it was because of bad things in your blood so they would slit your wrist and hang you upsidedown in an attempt to drain the impurities. Science is man’s way of explaining things. Yes, science is correct the majority of the time, but just because a scientist sais something is correct does not mean they are correct. This has been proven time and time again. I dont believe in evolution, but I do believe in adaptation. I know that it is a fact that if you put a creature in an envirnment it is not use to then its offspring and so forth will learn to survive. I just dont believe that they will grow extra arms and webbed feet and sprout wings because it better suits them for their envirnment. I am not saying science is bad at all, I have always had quite an interest in science…but certain aspect I do not agree with.
And btw, I never said I was a bible thumbing christian nutjob. All I said was I believe in creation…so yeah…just to clear it up because you all have that impression of me for some reason.
those arent example of science, they are examples of beleifs that are said to be scientific fact
even today people confuse science facts with beleif based “facts”
for the record, “science” as we know it never said the earth was flat. The “science” were referring to began in the renaissance, with the advent of empirical thought. Religious based science said the earth was flat. Modern science, as put forth by Galileo and his boiiz stated the earth was round. You have to realize that before the renaissance, science was based on religious beliefs…
the examples you refer to were of science based on speculation. The science we accept as true today is based on fact. No offense but your argument doesnt hold water. Modern science is not mans way of explaining things. It is fact. And what is not fact is not accepted as science.
An example of mans way of explaining things would be religion, which serves as mans justification for his existence and an explanation of the unknown…
