I am Ivan Checkov, and you will be closing now

Is this really necessary. I remember as a little kid trying to make money selling what ever I could, (popcorn, koolaid, etc) during a block sale or just random times because well, we were to young to get a job and my parents didnt want to caugh up money like they were an ATM.

Police shut down girls’ lemonade stand

“MIDWAY, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia have shut down a lemonade stand run by three girls trying to save up for a trip to a water park, saying they didn’t have a business license or the required permits.”

:fail:

They should have known better and greased the palms of some local officers with free lemonade.

^ LOL

Our society sucks.

These little bitches need to realize that you gotta pay to play.

 on the title, on the story.

I thought this was going to be like the last case I read about where the parents where running a commercial style operation and had the kids fronting to try and avoid permits etc.

Some guy in my office had a candy bar stand setup for his kids to raise money for a school field trip. I later found out that his kids were home schooled and they just used the money for a family vacation basically.

What the fuck.

A woman that worked for my mother used to post her kids up outside of the arena and have them sell candy bars. They made a ton of money in the name of fundraising… Scumbags.

That’s it, next kid I see selling candy bars I’m going to punch in the face, scream EA SCAMMERS, and run away.

Terrorist organizations can also be funded through lemonade stands.

That is brilliant.

I totally just burst out laughing at work

You know, this makes me wonder. back in High school for either Travel hockey, high school hockey, senior trip… they would make you sell candy bars and the more you raised the less that would come out of your pocket.

Is this the same situation with not having a permit for it? could the cops tell you to shut it down?

El oh el…

Based on the article, this was a stand setup to benefit themselves to go to a water park which was basically turning a profit. The candy bars money went to a organization that was not for profit which would fall under a different section of laws and typically would be run as not for profit entities.

Me too. Wasn’t it at a PGA tour stop or something? Then the parents backpedaled and said it was for “charity”

Whats the charity when its for your own hockey team to be able to go play in a tournament? Or to pay for you to go on a school trip. Its going towards you being able to do something… are you saying I would be the charity?

On top of that. how many kids do you see selling lemonade / cookies / popcorn… You think they are giving the money to charity. lol I know I was keeping it and asking for more to be made from my mother. hahahaha.

Sports leagues are not for profit organizations and type a corporations in the states they reside in. Its how they get their tax exempt benefits and also selling or giving away prepared candy donated by another organization like Mars for candy bars is different than serving food you make. If the girls were smart they would have filed for a their own not for profit A corporation, purchased their lemons and stuff tax free, and then use the money to fund their social organization. Would have made it better to operate but they still need a food service permit and all the corporation papers. Silly kids these days.

If you think about it tho, the girl was 14. At 15 people are usually working part time so if they let this fly, you technically could start a road side food stand and have a younger person be the front person of it and not have to file anything.
