My main concern between import vs. domestic would be rate of depreciation. AFAIK, domestic still has steeper depreciation compared to its import counterpart. This, obviously got to do with the eventual resell value when I sell my car down the road.
I like to change my cars every 2 to 3 years. I try to keep the depreciation in value as small as possible.
I own a 2 door car with rwd that is 2800lbs. I have a 4 door car that has 3300lbs. A mustang is around 3600lbs-3900lbs. A challenger is around 4400lbs or so. Camaros are between 3800lbs and 4100lbs. Why does my 4 door sedan awd weigh less than these Sports/muscle cars? Why does Chevy need to produce such a massive car that when hearing every review out there on this Camaro… is full of blind spots.
I also like a care for handling reasons, not power. The power is more of the bonus to me. (obvioulsy needs some power)
What sports style car can I purchase that weights 3000lbs or less? Fine, how many sports cars can you get that weight less than 3500lbs and cost under $35k?
Serious question too, I’m not trying to be a smart ass. I’d actually be interested. (please dont tell me a saturn sky) lol
Yams you are answering your own questions here chief. Everyone has different values and interests in cars. Car companies develop and manufacture vehicles they believe will be marketable and profitably to certain demographics. The cars listed above are for someone else. Does that help? Its like telling McDonalds you would like them better if they sold Whoppers.
I got that, I just dont get why they dont market for the other group of people as well. I posted in a thread about GM possibly producing a car that would be comparable to a BRZ/FRS… I would love to see this still come out. I would also look to see if it was worth the purchase. The problem I have GM would push that car out in a matter of a couple years where as the brz/frs took them several years to get what they wanted before they released it and man did they do a good job.
they made the solstice/sky… the economy killed it. I think as the economy improves you’ll see more like this again, but the market for people buying these will always be small.
I don’t think you have ever had a fast car with torque before, and I’m taking a guess that your 4 door sedan is gay, I could be wrong though, what is it? Its probably a mid 90’s impreza rot box with 2 air bags… wonder why its not that heavy.
You are way off as usual with your facts, The 09-14 Mustang(current since '15 isn’t technically out) weighs like 3,600lbs give or take maybe 100lbs.
Camaro around 3,800lbs but definitely not over 4,000lbs…
Challenger is the heaviest… too bad because they did a pretty good job on it, but again you’re off by like 200lbs.
FRS/BRZ should of been 2 seaters, they are so dumb to make it try to fit 4 people, I’ve sat in the back seats at the buffalo auto show, just for fun. Literally had to try to break my ankles to fit back there and I’m a small guy, 5’8 160lbs.
The FRS/BRZ they’re cool, but they have baby tires on them, way too narrow for my tastes, it would make me feel gay inside trying to do a burnout and still having trouble with those small ass tires.
Have you ever had a semi fast car before? Maybe you just don’t have any experience with anything that pushes you back in your seat.
Well its a sports car, they wanted it to look cool and retro, besides how often do you drive in reverse!
lol wow, you mad bro? Have I owned a “fast” car before. No I havent owned one but have driven a few and have been in the passenger seat of many. I grew up in muscle cars with my best friend and his father. A Challenger T/A, Challenger R/T, +500hp 70s charger, 70s drag camaro, and many others. Those were all his families/fathers and I was around while he rebuilt and drove every one of those. (I love old muscle)
I drive a 05 Legacy GT… come at me bro. lol It’s not “fast” but I’ll probably beat 80% of whats on the road in the winter and I’ll do it having a fucking blast!. I didn’t buy the honda to be a “fast” car, if I wanted faster I would have just dropped the money on a sti to have fun all year round and laugh at the v8’s I could beat with my 4 cylinder turbo.
Go look up the weights on the cars again chief… I didnt just post numbers off my own thoughts, I actually looked up the specs on each one I listed, but you are absolutely correct. lol (I posted the specs on the top model of each of those cars)
Your claim about the tires on the BRZ/FRS, yes they are Prius wheels. If you did any research which I’m sure you just talk out your ass, they actually designed these cars with the knowledge that the majority of people buying these cars that will be bothered by that will go out and put a wide and different offset on the rims/tires. They produced one of if not the best car of the year based on everyone that reviews automobiles, but who listens to those people. (they know nothing about cars) If you want more power, you can probably drop about $3k and end up producing a great car which is still going to be less than your average car that would compare.
I like going through my gears and enjoying the sounds and knowing that even after hitting redline in 2 gears… I still am just getting to the speed limit or 5 over. It’s enjoyable. The fact I have a car where I can take a corner and romp on the gas and still get 27mpg, I’ve only changed fluids in the car, replaced a clutch master cylinder, and tires… I’d take this car over most anything right now. I got it with 33k, I’ve driven it for 3 1/2 years and I have 90k.
Edit:
(Chevrolet lists the curb weight of the 2013 Camaro SS with a manual transmission at 3,860 pounds and the 2013 Camaro ZL1 at 4,120 pounds.)
Car sized from girly to manly. Notice the American car is the only one sized manly. How are you suppose to feel secure with yourself with those smaller cars?
Tell me, how do you feel manly liking a Z? curious the size difference in those to the American muscle cars.
Question… out of the list that it shows, which handles the best?
Actually the Mustang, if it were a V6, would be the best handling (in terms of grip) out of those four cars pictured. The Miata would be the best in terms of feel.
