LOL, well if you want to do your dick measuring like you do on all posts. It’s actually the most american made PICKUP truck. What else is on the list that your average joe drives around? lol
I use to be import biased. But as long as it has a gas pedal, brake pedal, and steering wheel, and all three of those function with some sort of repeatability; give me the keys and I’ll drive it to the ragged edge. Saying a 3800lb car isn’t fun to drive at the limit is as ignorant as saying a 15 sec car isn’t fun to drive at the limit.
BRZ vs. 1LE:
Which is faster? 1LE
Which one would I drive on a roadcourse? 8 times out of 10 the 1LE, the other 2 times anything is a BLAST to drive at the limit.
Which one would I spend $34k on? The BRZ/FRS
And no. Take the $9k, , $1200 on 6 sets of brake pads, $1860 on 3 sets of 225 Direzza’s, and the remaining $5940 should get you through 18 track days.
Now, which is the better ownership experience, having a 1LE and talking about roadcourses, or the BRZ/FRS and actually doing track days?
I still dont see how there is much hate on the brakes. From my knowledge they came with bigger brakes/the wrx brake system on a smaller lighter car. I really believe the stopping problem is the tires and lack of traction. Maybe I’m wrong.
It is a conservative guesstimate based on a rare thing called experience. Race pad compounds usually last 3 track days, if driven proper amount of aggression. They last a little longer in endurance racing because the are up to temp for most of the duration. Maybe they will last 4-5 days at Nelson, maybe they will last 2 days at Gingerman. Maybe the FRS/BRZ is super, super easy on brakes and 4 sets will be enough.
In any case save a few hundred on brake pads and spend it on head gaskets.
the focus never has, and never will be AWD. ford engineers have explored/tested it vs. a properly sorted FWD system and the FWD system with torque vectoring tech and revo-knuckle suspension performed better than an AWD variant in track testing. I can only hope the 2.3l ecoboost paves the way for a focus model ABOVE the ST…rumor has it an RS happens to be in the works.
Gee, that’s a great idea. Let’s sell an incomplete car for $25k, so that the enthusiasts will have coin left over to mod it how they want. We’ll sell boatloads of them!!!
That’s a true statement ^^^ My sister in law’s father owns a Chevy dealership and said he had people offering to pay more than MSRP to get certain Corvettes because they were so tough to find.
A BRZ is the same cost as a camaro. I would def take the camaro
With the BRZ you are paying A LOT for nothing. I’m sure for the most part they are bought by Subaru loyals
When I went looking for a new SS I started looking at used ones from 2010-2012. I couldn’t find one under $28k. Even now, they are tough to find around $26-$27k. Not bad for buying a 2010 brand new for $35k, driving it for 4 years and trading it in, and have the dealer give you $25k for it.
