you need to shimmy it side to side until it unseats before trying to pull on it straight out.
hit the side of the far end as to bend the starter up
hit the OPPOSITE side of the far end as to bend the starter DOWN
hit ONCE at a time with the same pressure
repeat and slowly it will work its way out
applying a SMALL(important) amount of prybar pressure WHILE tapping/shimmying will speed things up.
You MUST be even and MILD when applying the force to get a part with tight clearances out.
