well i just did my second etest. and i passed. I passed big time. First off i went to CT and i was told that the 'Hot rod" setting is no longer available even though i had a letter from nissan about my SR; so i was like shit. Anyways i went through with it as a KA24DE. Then i killed it.
so im pretty happy right now, except for the fact the guy that did it kinda overheated my motor
oh well still gotta fix my high idle. But interestingly enough my idle was perfect at 800 after he overheated it, but after i got it back down to normal operating temp it went back to 1500. Wierd.
nope they didnt charge me; but i kno a guy that works there so you might not get the same deal. Im sure you will tho. then agian i didnt even get to use it in the end lol
The reason you passes is because “he overheated” the engine… The motor ran to hot and there for had no choice but to pass (its one tech used to make sure a vehicle will pass)…
Catch is… your motor may not have “overheated” maybe your thermo is stuck open and is never closing and your car isnt exaactly coming up to “running temp” but for some reason did on the dyno during the test ?
Do you got an aftermarket gauge ? If not… may wanna inspect the coolant temp sensor ?
i have looked at the coolant temp sensor, at almost full operating temperature its at 1.27 volts. And at cold start up, i can watch the volts reducing as the car is warming up. What should the voltage be at normal operating temp?
So ur saying that the only reason i passed was becasue i was overheating?
update…
I have adjusted the TPS to what the voltages should be at, and it has changed nothing at all. The idle is still at 1500 after warm up, and the idle screw is all the way down.
I don’t know what else to do to get this idle down. plz help
