its called the service position… all vag cars do that… it makes workin it stupid easy
I’ve done TBs on 30vs more times than I care to remember.
It’s easy.
That’s not the service position, that’s the “You tore the front end off” position.
The service position involves sliding the lock carriers out. Moves the whole rad/front end out about 6" to give you room to work in. You install 2 special audi tools in the frame to support it. Much easier/quicker if you do it every day.
I’ve done tons of 2.8 timing belts, but still pull the front end all the way off. Just easier to line stuff up, I don’t spend time dicking with alignments on stuff I can’t see like I do when it’s in the service position. And it’s only about 5 minutes worth of extra work to swing it out of the way if you leave everything connected.
:word: the service position is basically longer bumper bolts that allow you to slide the bumper away from the front of the car without taking it off. It saves you unplugging some wires.
