Looks like a major PITA
hmmm, 6 cyl. audi/vw, looks like maybe cam work? timing belt (took alot off if thats the case), or possibly some gaskets being replaced? wtf are you doing to it, and what kind of car is it.
its a passat… i think.
And he is changing the pushrods/rockers./
LOL no I had to do the Timing belt, with the associated crap, and then the gasket under the Cam tensioner. I was scratching my head at this point, but got it all back together with no spare parts from the factory either. I guess it’s good for the next 100K

always nice when it’s back together and there aren’t any spare bolts floating about.
^^^WERD made me feel much better, and appreciate the engineering that went into it.

Good work. I don’t think I would have been brave enough to take that on. t-up
^ Bah there just bolts
:word:
I’ve put an engine back together, had 3 extra bolts/screws, and it still ran fine… granted it was a tiny little 1 cylinder Briggs&Stratton… BUT IT STILL WORKED!!!
and gaskets, I hate gaskets.

Been ther edone that, like 50 times
Did you know you can do the cam tensioner gasket w/out removing the cams (or the front end, i know it was off for the TB).
Sure, I did the gasket like that, but I don’t have the service tools to make the belt swap easy without the front end, so I took it off (that’s like a 1/2 hour of the job).
