haha…I had the same issue about 3 years ago. My original post:
“This morning, I go through the tolls at the 190 by the river heading downtown and a Black Slammed Honda comes up behind me in the fast lane. I have a safe distance between me and the car in front and this Honda gets right on my tail. Not one to have much patience, I slam on the brakes for a second. I nose dive a bit, he nose dives a bit. He backs off some and gets next to me. He looks over and I give him my “look of death”. He gets caught up in a bit of traffic and I exit. I see him do a “distastefully modded car” flyby. It had one of those wings on the back that screamed “I’M GAY!!!”. The tips flapped up like a couple of flailing arms. Not sure if it was an Accord or Prelude. I don’t know much about Hondas. If the fucktard is on here, stay the fuck away from me. Until I get my morning Pepsi, I’m a bastard and may just get out and take you down…Have a nice fucking day!!!”
i was in the left lane yes…going about 75 in a 55, and as i said, while he was totally on my ass there were cars to my right, lots of them, and i wasn’t going to dick over and cut somebody off for this guy…
I’m guilty of tailgating too, but that doesn’t make it OK. Piloting 3000 pounds of metal at speeds that can easily mame and kill is not something to take lightly (meaning 5mph+, think pedestrians…). Tailgating is dangerous. If you want to risk your own well-being that’s fine, but don’t risk the well-being of those around you just because you want to be driving faster. As for justifying it by saying “what if they’re trying to get to the hospital because someone’s there.” That’s bullshit. Risk hurting someone else because you’re trying to get to someone who’s already hurt???
We all need to take a deep breath when we’re driving agressively and realize that the whole “no budging” “I’ve gotta get there first” “It’s ok for me to drive dangerously, I’m in a hurry” attitude is childish.
If that doesn’t mean anything to you, then next time you’re tailgating just imagine the car in front of you hitting something and stopping faster than a braking car can. It would suck to smash up your car just because you were in a hurry and trying to get the dick head in front of you to move over…
^^ ya know, thats one of my major gripes with SUV’s. I can’t stand the fact that safety regulations let them be as tall as they are (not to mention 99% come with a really dark tinted rear window). When I’m in a car, I cant see anything in front of them/around them… even from standard safe following distance, it’s still dangerous. I usually try to pass them at all costs lol (and semi’s)
I hate people who go the speed limit in the left lane… And I agree, you see someone coming up behind you get the fvck over… You dont know the circumstances of why they are in a hurry, could be a guy trying to get home for a family emergency or a person who’s super late for work like me… LOL
