As posted from NEO240SX here is my list to you newbies just joining the board.
First of all welcome!
The 240sx is an excellent vehicle, and you should be privilaged to own such a fine car. In most cases if you’ve joined this group your not like other regular owners, your here to learn and know more and modify your car etc. So here are a few things you need to know right off the batt.
1.) Your car has 4 Cylinders, thats it.
Contrary to popular belief that our cars are like Ford Probe’s. The 240sx has never EVER had a V6 or an other motor installed from the factory that has exceeded 2.4 liters (2400cc) of displacement.
Our motors (the KA series of motor) comes in 2 different types of Formats.
SOHC (Single Over Head Cam) 12 Valve
DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam) 16 Valve
Both have 2.4 liter displacement, the differences lie inside the motor.
2.) Your car is RWD… no if’s and’s or but’s
Contrary to popular belief that our cars are like Ford Probe’s. The 240sx was never front wheel drive. The 240 has always been a rear wheel drive car. If you sat your car in snow, wet conditions or dry conditions with crappy tires. Guarentee that if you rev it up and drop the clutch you or your friend who could be looking at the tire. that your rear sets are spinning, not your fronts. and if by freak chance they are… you better check your VIN because I dont think you have a 240sx…
3.) “I know lots about 240sx’s… like Silvia!! and… SR20DET… and DRIFTING and…”
Alright, so far if this is your mentality when running into this scene, the enthusiasts are going to be the first ones to notice that your a newbie. And that Sports Compact Car and Super Street has infected your mind into thinking that the 240 is the best, Silvia is an awesome swap, we all have SR20DET’s and we all drift our cars on mountain passes.
The answer is no, we dont, or not all of us at least.
When you come to this forum to this club, and your new. Dont come in thinking you know everything already. Come in here to learn and discuss. By throwing out words like “Silvia” and “JDM” dont add to credibilty. What does is what you can prove you know, and how you apply it.
Dont get us wrong, this club is very open, but at the same time it’s very cut throat. Alot of us have been in the scene and into the 240 for more then 4 years and we’ve seen, been, experienced it all (if not a large chunk of it). So ask and listen.
