i used to work at an engine distributor that would install small generators on big trucks like that. it would run all the basic stuff in the sleeper, i assume it charged the battery, etc. and you didnt need to run the trucks engine all night.
would something like that be legal to run on while you sleep?

Yes thier legal. Stevens transport and i think Trans Am uses them. my company does not.
