I need an OBD1 check engine light read

where can I get an obd1 CEL read? I went to advance auto and auto zone, they both said that Id have to go to a dealer. I went to Dean Honda and they wanted to charge me 80 bucks just to get the code read. does anyone know where I can get it read cheaper or free?

what kinda car?

Well, since it’s OBD1:

Pull out the two pin connector under the far right side of the dash (in a green rubber cover). Bend a paper clip and stick it in both terminals…and turn the key to the 2 position (on but not starting). the CEL will flash…long flash, followed by short flashes.

Long flash = first digit
Short flash = second digit

The CEL will continue to display codes indefinitely until you either pull the jumper you made, or turn the key.

OBD1 trouble codes can be google easily as well. That’s all you need!

Thanks, I appreciate it!
