okay so my car is in the shop and suspention needs fixing…how much is it to get a lowering kit so i can have that installed instead of new stock parts…anyone have any idea becasue i dont even know where to start.
well you can get a set of coilovers for just over a grand, even cheaper used. Or you can just buy stock shocks and get lowering springs.
Your options are to get new shocks and springs, from KYB or tokico and then some springs from H&R, Tein,…
I was going to go with KYB AGX shocks and Tein S-Tech springs… but I might end up with megan racing street series coilovers… as it might just end up the same price more or less.
Up to you… do some research, I’ve created a thread like a month ago… search is your friend… KYB GR2 are better than OEM however from people’s experiences they blow on lowering springs (as do OEM shocks) and people advised me to go with KYB AGX shocks. A few also said tokico illuminas blow too… but… that’s all I’ve heard from people’s experiences.
Use the search function…
You can never go wrong with some KYB AGX shocks and Eibach Sportlines…
you can get both of those for a fairly good price off of ebay.
never buy aftermarket springs and use stock shocks, the stock shocks are set to factory rebounds and compressions, aftermarket springs are usually stiffer than stock, the stock shock is designed to rebound to the length of the stock springs, and lowering springs are obviously shorter so the shocks dont never reach the designed rebound length, staying contantly under compression, this wears both the shocks and springs out faster
For Tein S-tech springs and kyb agx shocks, you are looking at around $800, for a set of new Megan Coilovers you are looking at about $1250.
what about a gr2 and lowering spring setup
nothing too drastic just a 1.5 drop like on s tech and pro kit?
i have gr2 on stock springs and the aformentioned problem of gr2’s blowing on drop springs has me worried…
but on topic, I believe if you have the springs and shocks out already go coil over (megan) if you have the cash and tokiko/kyb agx with drop springs if you don’t.
just do it in one shot so you don’t have to pay twice for install and allignment like me
I had the Gr2’s and Sportlines and it was alright. but if you can spend the money now to get something better then do that.
I sold mine for Dirt cheap so if you find a deal like that then go for it.
But I say talk to Phil and get some Megan coils
