Lowering.

ok so i just got a 1989 240sx, completely stock.
for spring, i want to put on some new shoes and lower it, any suggestions, i probboly wont be able to afford coilover, btw.

eibach sportlines and kyb agx shocks…good for a budget drop…dunno what those shocks go for now though…

Budget??? they cost about 650-750 after everything.

Coilovers are only 300 more on average.

But if you are cheap just go spings.

Here we go again, this is gonna get gayer than those KA vs SR vs RB vs CA threads.

If you drive your car lots, then get springs and shocks. Coilovers are great but you will begin to hate you car if you drive it too much.

Why is that? Would be because coilovers are usually stiffer on average? Ive been debating the same thing, but am leaning toward coilovers beacuse for the whole pakage with pillowballs, camber plates, and adjustable dampening. Ull pay on avergae about 1500, and to get all that with a spring/damper combo u pay around 1200.(correct me if im wrong on prices)

Just my thoughts, but if u can get the same setup with a ride height that is right, outa a spring/damper setup for less. Then id say go for it.

i agree with flavio on that one specially in edmonton where we have pot holes crack grooves trust me you`ll thank us later . i lowered my car with springs and it feels awesome when im going over bumps that i would have to slow down for. and lets not forget winter is comming

High speed damping on coils is just so good though. 10X better. Coils may be stiffer, but they are less bouncy(good ones). Just don’t be a pussy. Plus, springs(NONE) don’t go low enough.

grinding wheel - $5
angle grinder - $45

$50 and go as low are you want … its only adjustable one way …lower and lower

haha

don’t cut the springs!!

i’m happy with my tein spring/ adj shock/strut combo but i dont think they were cheap…

I recomend those sleeve overs you can get on ebay for 50 bucks. I run those on my car and they are sweet, rides like a dream.

man, where do you shop for coilovers???

I tried tein HE(drift spec) and tein HA(street spec) coilovers and both were way too firm for daily driving up in the north, nice for track type environments, but how often are you hitting the track. now I am running KYB AGX adjustable shock/struts with tein S-tech springs. They are GREAT! They are still alot firmer than a stock type set up, but very good for daily driving. and the adjustablity is nice for the times you do hit the track ect… the springs have a nice drop for the street, looks good with enough room to soak up the dips and such, and they are progressive. I payed $700 for the springs and shocks new, and allready had camber plates(that I am still fighting with). I would highly recomend going this route if you are on a budget and want something nice for daily driving. good tein coilovers are about $1500 and some cheaper brands START at $1100 I believe.
hope that helps!

Megan coilovers are great. My Track series were not much more than 300 more.

I have also heard VERY good things about Stance. (bing sells them)

thanks, thats helps alot. if its a good system then 700 is a good price. do they sell these shocks/struts/springs at speedtech, or autodream?

I couldn’t find that good a price localy. but I found a place out east that buys the shocks in larger quantities like a group buy and passes on the savings. If you want to get ahold of them send me a PM.

race ready had a GB awhile back, ~$500 for AGX and Tein s-techs.

they probably still offer similar pricing although it’ll be more now. i’m probably going to turn to them when i want to replace my shocks with AGX’s.

ebay has listings in the $319-$399US range for a set of AGX’s alone. springs range from $120 and up.

race ready is who I got my stuff through. they are selling the shocks for $500 and springs for $200. I don’t think they ever offered both for $500, but I could be wrong. I had some problems with them, but eventually got what I ordered for a good price.
