So lately we have been dealing with bandwidth interrupts and decreases intermittantly for the past month with TWC. Basically we would talk on our phone and our internet would slow to a stop. Their QOS was WAY off or at least we were receiving minimal bandwidth on our Business Class setup.
So the tech gets here. Immediatlely without diagnosing anything, tells me its our faulty equipment. So I disagree and tell him I tested the bandwidth at the back of their modem, way before any of our switches/routers/firewalls/etc.
**So he sits there staring for a minute. This is where it gets good. Looks at me and says we are using a 2.4 GHz wireless phone in one room and that the signal from the phone is causing all of our problems!!! This is when I knew he didn’t know jack shit. I explained to HIM that yes the 2.4 frequency could interfere with a wireless internet connection but in no way can it possibly interrup/slow bandwidth to a wired OR wireless connection no matter what.
So then I told him that I beleived they had bad line running into our server room. He did not agree so I told him it was the only thing that made sense since our phone was stealing all of our QOS during phone convos. He told me the bandwidth at the roadside tested perfect. Then he tested the line. Guess what? The line was bad…the drop into our unit specifically.
