I think I found her!

Road & Track did a special on it with the Stang, T-Bird and Monte Carlo. The Grand National won for the “brute force” car, pulling the quarter in 14.5 sec.

Yeah, but one of the best parts of enjoyable driving is dropping the clutch, split-second shifting and the amount of immediate control you have with a manual transmission. That’s why I would think twice about an Enzo. That’s me, so call me traditional.

Shift kits are wonderfull things, they actually take out the slowness of your hand moving from the wheel to the knob and pusing in the clutch, letting it out and mashing the gas. All you do is hit it and it’s gone!!

Auto’s are actually faster then manual trannys, just look at any REAL drag racing.

Yeah I wish it was a GNX! Unfortunately GNX’s are so rare that a real GNX is selling between $30,000.00 and $60,000.00 USD! It’s crazy! Brand new they were like $23,000.00 USD back in 1987. The GNX was only produced in 1987 the produced something like 537 of them and there is only something like 388 still in existance. So a GNX for me would be a dream come true but Im not a rich guy so I don’t see it happening anytime soon. There is guys that have regular GN’s and they put the GNX package on them but I think that’s stupid because it’s not official…Anyway Im still working on it guys I will let you know how the deal goes. Thanks for the support and Im glad many of you like the car, this vehicle is a true legend and it’s one of a kind.

The post that El edited dealt exactly with that, but in an angry sarcastic manner. I’m rephrasing it here nicely. Most people on here aren’t interested in just drag racing their cars, which is why we like manual trannys better.

Good Boy…Now play nice - El

^^^ That’s why I want 2 cars. I want my 240sx for drifting and for everyday fun driving. And I want my Grand National for 1/4 mile racing and nice summer weekend cruising.

I just want to clear something here. If I buy a Grand National my main focus will still be my 240sx. Just because I buy a Grand National it doesn’t mean Im giving up on my 240sx.

When I buy a Grand National I will buy one that is totally stock and is all original and it will stay that way. The only thing I will do to it is get the chip upgrade that is available for it and that’s all.

This car is a collectors car and if you start modifing then it looses it’s value, in order for a Grand National to go up in value it must be all original no mods. (But if I change my mind about the mods it will be very easy to pump 500 horsies out of it  ).

And like I said it will be a car I will use for cruising on nice weekends and maybe take to the 1/4 mile track once in a blue moon.

For performance and fun I will still have my other love:

My 1990 240sx

No offense, but you totally missed my point my man…I am willing to take the “hit” for the thrill. I am aware that an auto (only the best of them though unless you suck) can be faster and are used in drag.

My post was more an “IMO”, i’ve seen 240’s that run 10’s with a manual transmission, and that’s good enough for me.

There comes a point, driving a street car anyway, where ya just want to have fun driving it (and more control), even if it adds a fraction to my quarter.

Toronto240sx – C’mon man, what about your GF??

Oh man good luck on the buy, But if u get it prepare to be runnin a stock manifold on ur 240 this year bastard lol.

Sorry DarkForceJackal, I missed the part about the “enjoyable driving”.

I will only have an auto in a big truck or a land yaught.

You are right, standard tranny is the way to go for sure!

(All of the flaming going on here on SON must have just gotten my blood a bit hot, that is all.)

NICE John! Grand Nationals are sweet.

No match for the MPV though.

not in anyway insinuateing the autos are better , sorry didnt mean to be a penis, i love manual trannys, i wont drive an auto, unless of course its a GN, i just get a little mad when people say things like too bad its only auto, cuz grand nationals arent exactly designed for the 1/4 mile , they were designed for high end , sorry again , just that grand nationals like 240sx are a passion of mine, unfortunatly i only own a 240, fortunatly ive had the opportunity to work on some very fast GN’s

like i said sorry man didnt mean to flame

Johnny boy if u need a chip for ur ride theres a guy here in kitchener that does chipping for the 3.8t’s

As long as you apologize. :wavey:

Manuals are just fun to drive. I think Buick had the older generation in
mind when they made the GN. I mean what was stopping them from
putting in a manual tranny?

Ah well, even if it’s an Auto, definately worth it.

well maybe they had an older generation in mind maybe not, why does gm do the things they do?

well if any of u guys want the power of the 3.8 turbo with a manual tranny go find a turbo trans am, they came with a manual tranny, they sucked speed wise compared to the GN’s. but hey there manual and fun to drive right ? actuall if u look at the specs , the GN tranny and 240sx auto tranny have extremly identical gear ratio’s , im not sure aobut the final drive ratio but i belive they are the same ( not 100%)

The answer is 240sx with GN 3.8 turbo in it.
People, use the force! See it you will!
That is all, as you were.

well its been done in a 240z,

I’m sorry too, I’m not knocking auto totally, it has things it’s good for. Just so happens that I don’t enjoy doing those things, so for my personal usage, auto will always be useless.

It’s a sad sad day today everyone  . I was planning on buying this car from a guy in Michigan and I told him I will need a few days to get all the customs paperwork done and to figure out the import taxes and all that bullshit that comes along when you are importing a car from another contry. I told him I will get him the money as soon as I get all the paperwork done and set up shipping etc. So I told him to wait till this coming weekend and guess what? Someone bought the car from him.   This fucken sucks big time. I finally found a nice clean all original Grand National at a dicent price and it sliped right through my fingures, I can’t fucken believe this. Fuc k! This sucks Damn it!

…Okay I go cry now.

bumer dude…cash first, customs later?
