Got sick of the gross bathroom so I took off a thurs, fri, sat, sunday to knock it out. In addition to the bathroom I replaced every water feed line in the house with PEX tubing. I also added a new hot water tank, kitchen sink, kitchen faucet, range hood, stove, kitchen counter tops and a vent in the bathroom. Here are the before and after bathroom pics. Not many during pics because I had quite a few :feck: moments.
Before
After
I still have to seal the grout and caulk the base of the toilet and sink, but other than that it all came out very well.
looks real nice. Pex is the way to go, did you use the crimper or the sharkbite fittings? I rented the pex crimper and it broke half way through, so now I have half crimped copper rings and half sharkbite.
Total for everything including the hot water tank and kitchen shit was just over 4k. 90% of the stuff was bought from lowes because we have a c.c. there with no interest for 60days. Honestly we’ll never shop there again. I have a laundry list of customer service complaints we brought to the manager during and after the build and we got $100 gift cert. I probably won’t even spend it we were fucked so many times and never really apologized to. It felt like they were annoyed we had complaints. A couple of the big ones were the tub was delivered broken, but yet the box was PERFECT, so it was repackaged. Our 3rd delivery was delivered without a phone call so we werent home and they wouldnt redeliver until 3 days later. On redelivery it went to the wrong house and when they got here the delivery guy said, oh yea we always call you must have just got a lazy delivery man. Also about 4 or 5 instances of trying to get a little help in the store only to have the person “go get help” and never come back.
The showerhead fuckin rules, it was clearance from target, paid $25. We just took out the plastic water saver thing jammed in the back as per another thread on here.
The tub surround is a 3 piece fiberglass unit, it’s really nice with the design because it kinda breaks it up a little. The selling point was that the box said “holds 28 full size shampoo bottles” so I was game, lol.
I bought the crimper and used that, was way cheaper than buying all the shark fittings. Once the water turned on I had 0 leaks from anything I crimped, just a couple stupid mistakes in the sink drains. My only pex complaint is that I bought a roll and that shit wouldn’t straigten itself out, it made it really hard to get a long straight run installed.
Very nice work. Which Lowes did you go to? I had some problems with a Samsung fridge I bought from the Amherst Transit store and they were great about taking care of it.
PS… You’re welcome about the suggestion to remove the water saver.
Sharlyn and I did all the work. Her dad came to help 1 day but fucked shit up pretty bad. Cross threaded the sink drain so it leaked and i hadta cut it off, cut my countertop 1/2 inch too short so u can see the base cabinet and put the kitchen faucet on backwards. He was kinda useful helpin set the shower walls into place. My dad was at some horse trail riding event so he wasnt able to help. Its easier doing shit myself, I know its gettin done right. Oh, the vent is center of the ceiling and vents out the roof.
$4k? Holy hell. You mentioned the HWT, but I hope that includes everything in the kitchen too. Stove & countertop & everything?
And yeah, Lowes customer service fucking blows giant goat nuts. I hate that store. The NFB location anyway.
I was there an hour ago and asked the paint kid if I should use latex or oil based drylok on my chimney. He gave me that obvious “I have absolutely no idea” deer-in-headlights look, then said “Uhh, latex.” “Well what’s the difference?” “It really shouldn’t matter.”
I went back and read the cans again and only the oil based was labeled for use on brick.
I’m doing one of these later this month. My bathroom is old ass pink tile from floor to ceiling. I’ve had about enough. I just wish I had enough money to go all glass mosaic tile, that shit is gorgeous. Looks good
