I’m pretty sure the only people here w/ iphones are higher-ups
iPhone supports exchange activesync and the security protocols - the BASIC functionality of device control…
until you really check what a Blackberry Enterprise Server can do, and understand everything about it, you’ll never understand…
Most execs have BBs because that is the device that their IT departments deployed years ago and they feel comfortable with the fact that they have expert level admins running them. That was when most smartphones were POS and insecure. RIM was the leader at the time. Now that exchange is playing nicely with mobile devices, things are changing. It’s not cheap for a company to just ditch their BES servers though. Also, there is no point in spending the money since the BB devices are still competitive. It also costs money to hire or train their staff to manage the other devices/servers. So again, don’t expect to see any companies giving up the BB, but realize that there are other phones and solutions out there that can accomplish the same thing.
That does not make the iPhone/Exchange insecure OR difficult to use though…
I just wanted to know what company boxxa is an engineer at. I passed no judgement on what device an executive should have.
(I personally think it’s like what car an executive drives: People have a certain image in their mind, but most executives don’t care.)
lol. insecure.
Does my battery look big in this case?
Its not an argument that having an iPhone or BB makes you a executive, its the fact that people who have them in corporate environments typically are on them a lot more during the day and the fact that they are used by highups shows they enterprise phones and support security features that enterprises require. Yes, BB does provide a lot of lock downs that the iPhone can and their deployment and management is a bit easier but hey, its all about how you use it and what you like.
I am a telcomm engineer. We take care of your phone system and that very Avaya phone you are on at Praxair.
What kind of engineering degree do you have?
lol
Hey, fuck you, I’m a network / systems engineer.
Oh that’s right. We’ve gone over this like 8 times now.
Anyhow. They’re both good devices, and I’m sure you give a flying fuck about admin server security exchange blah blah blah.
First find out if you can actually get an iphone, then just go play with them.
I am kinda leaning towards the iPhone (with no experience with a BB). I do not care for the “keyboard”, the call quality seems to be fine IMO. The functionality is great, pretty much anything you would want a phone to do is possible on the iPhone. The exchange accounts are a bit trickier to work with on the iPhone which kind of aggrivated me a bit.
I’m sure some of the CEOs and higher ups have the iPhone based purely on requesting it and that “it makes me look really important and high tech”, even though they probably don’t even know there is a calculator on it. It’s the same with the students who go off to college and think they have to get a macbook.
I voted iphone but what about the nexus one?
Fry, while trivial, this point isn’t completely true. my riding gloves are calfskin and i am able to use my iphone without taking my gloves off.
beyond that, iphone ftw.
i love my 9700
fucking engineers… i will do the opposite of whatever engineers do at all times forever…
mind you, i will admit that Canada has a BB fetish… when i told people that BB was not the world leader in smart phones they are like “WHAAAAAA???”
But i /we all (canadians) live in RIM’s backyard so it’s hard to see past the fences.
OMG u2!?
iPhone all the way. My phone has been dropped so many times I can’t recall. Everytime I’ve dropped it, it always happens to be on tile, concrete or hard wood flooring, never on the carpet… It has been slung across the room (unintentionally lol) and landed on tile. Dog knocked over a glass of juice which poured directly onto my phone. The headset didn’t work but that was a temporary issue. They take a beating and ask for more. Apps are plentiful and good time wasters.
I have two complaints. One, no flash support. Two, can’t create groups of contacts that can be selected to text as a group.
Also love my iPhone… I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love theirs. Always works, it’s fast never any problems. I can’t say the same about friends that have BBs. Jailbreak it and you can do anything. I use it to tether and got rid of my home Internet. (although I don’t game or Download much)
BB sucks monkey dicks.
iPhone isn’t the best phone out there IMO (depending on what you are looking for) but it sure is pretty solid.
BB or JesusPhone is kind of comparing apples to oranges though.
Hai guys, should I get this CTS-V or this GMC Sierra?
