Lots of suckage there. AVG has sucked since 8.0 came out though. I switched over to Symantec Corp 10.2 and have been really happy with it.

I use CA E-trust, I can stand how resource intensive Symantec’s variations are
Fixed. Symantec Corporate edition runs very well.
We’re forced to use it at work but after having for several months I decided to install a copy by choice at home. Even on my real shitty desktop it runs great. You just have to turn off the “quick” scan it tries to do at startup.
