Im looking for a nice reliable import that I can mildly build.

:fail: once he said DSM I stoped reading … remeber you are looking for “reliable” …

Can we merge all of your posts into something under the title:

“OMG I have no idea what I want but I want something, hurry hurry awesome”

Dude take a breath, calm down, and think. Woh crazy right.

Maybe even make a punch list.

First decide what kind of money you really can/want to spend.

You’re 18 don’t take out a huge loan for a car you’re probably going to crash anyways.

Spend 8-10K on something you can have fun with.

Second, decide what type of car you want. Year round? Summer? What is it?

Thirdly what does this car need to do for you? Do you need 4 doors? Are you going to just drive it? Auto-X it? What do you plan on doing with it?

Fourth if you’re worried about insurance, maybe you shouldn’t drive a car you need to have collision on. Buy a 5K 240SX/F-body and rape them.

Please think a little before you post, and maybe keep it all to one thread.

s2k, wrx, evo, srt-4, mazdaspeed3 or 6, rx8, aveneger r/t, audi a4/s4/tt… The list goes on and on…

be 18…get a b18…turbo hatch.

You’re 18. Buy something for less than 5k, pay cash for it, and use it as basic transportation to get you back and forth to school. Graduate without being buried under a bunch of debt from making stupid car decisions.

I’m sure I just lost about 90% of NYSpeed.

dont confuse with facts and logic

…but seriously… you dont want to hear to buy something smart because youre 18…we get it…get a clean 2000ish 5speed integra, get some better springs/struts, and youll love it and have spent $5grand

honda FTW

I finished school with no loans a corvette and a jeep, mommy and daddy didn’t buy them!

Take out a loan and buy a C5 Zo6 you wusssssssss.

Do yourself a favor, get something without a payment that you can afford even if its not the hotest shit out there. Nothing worse than a car payment and high insurance and no money left to enjoy it. Take the money and save it or put it towards your education or something. Plus being 18, your not going to get a good job… well make decent money to afford this. With the economy the way it is a bank will laugh in your face. (Sorry but true)

Good luck, but listen to the advice of people who been through it all.

No person under the age of 20 can ever ask advice on a car that costs more than $10k here.

Last I checked, the OP wasn’t looking for financial advice.

lol my dad bought me a tempo that ran for about 2 days for my 16 birthday…

I can’t believe I agree with boardjnky4 on something.

Fuck it all, you only live once and you have no real responsibilities right now (a family, etc), so I say right now is the time to make some potentially bad or irresponsible decisions that you will make in your life.

Just do a search on Autotrader, here is some import queries (all imports since you gave us nothing to run with), limited to 16k so you have some cash left to play with:

Depending on if you need to haul people around or not, I’d probably personally look at Honda S2000s, BMW E46 3 series, Mitsubishi Evo’s, STi’s, in no particular order.

Having no loans what-so-ever feels pretty good. I have to agree with the majority, start small and work your way up.

im really lookig into the eclipse. I cant decide between which I like better though the 2nd or3rd generation? Which car has a better base to work with

2ND GEN, but the 4g63 is not reliable… get a 4th gen if you want quick and reliable

honestly, people say this…but a big MEH to it.

While you may not have any car payments, you wake up, and go get in your mid 90s GM product while your neighbor gets up and gets in his brand new 5 series BMW.

so again, still feel pretty good about not having a loan?

none of them

I honestly LAUGH at kids who want to spend 15k on a car they can mod and look ELSEWHERE than a WRX/EVO.

it’s like, those two cars are the BEST cars money can buy for straight performance/modibility etc.

I laugh at kids who want to boost a financed DD. :roflpicard:

spend 10k on a dd… then buy a honda for 1k put 4k into it … do 11’s all day
