2 spaces is what i was thought it was, news to me.
<~~~ two space user here.
where di u find out it was wrong. literature and writing are kind of my specialty and im pretty sure that two spaces is still the norm
i read the title and thought 4 weeks…
1 space.
I’ve always done the same thing. Still do lol.
I hate when people do doubles. It bothers me and disrupts the entire flow of a sentence. Gay

What the F*** is wrong with you? nothing to do today?
LOL
2 spaces. I learned on my mother’s typewriter and it wasn’t even electric! Insert old joke here.
My mom uses two spaces, my dad and I have constantly told her it’s wrong, but, she’s “old school.”
Heh good to know, I was told two back when I was in elementary school but ignored it ever since out of shear laziness. Lack of caring FTW!
Chicago Manual of Style suggests one space as well. Between APA and Chicago that’s 100% of writing I have to do.
University of Rochester is single space:
http://www.rochester.edu/news/styleguide/punctuation.html
UB: doesn’t specify but most likely abides by APA, MLA, and Chicago depending on the department.
I’ve always used a single space? I’ve never heard of double space after a period being the “way” maybe your parents didnt love you?
when did they cheang it … and who allowed them to do so
If I was to type correct. I always two space the fucker
YEA I’m thinking that you were the one who’s parents didn’t love um.
Oh yea and Newman… Periods are spaced out about 4 weeks apart, last a few days then you’re good to go for another 4 weeks
I think in high school my English teacher had mentioned that the 2 space thing was suppose to teach kids not type/write words so close together because the teachercouldnotreadWTFtheywerewriting.Ortellwhentherewasanewsentence.
I think shortly there after I went back to 1 space. Then in college they wanted 2 :picard:
I use one.
“Use a single space after the period at the end of a sentence.” – The Associated Press Stylebook
“Because it is increasingly common for papers and manuscripts to be prepared with a single space after all punctuation marks, this spacing is shown in the examples in the MLA Handbook and the MLA Style Manual.”
I still hate it
+1, but I’m trying to convert. Muscle memory is hard to overcome, though.
