Inactive for awhile, back once again.

Hey guys, I’d been active for awhile on off-topic, just now started posting again. My name’s Brandon, and I’m an MECP certified car audio technician. My car’s nothing special, 2003 nissan sentra with not a lot going on under the hood.

Anyway, I’m here to lend my expertise to anyone looking to do some audio work on their car. So if you have any questions, fire away.

You know anything about changing ap1 s2k door panels to ap2? or if you can put the ap1 '02 s2k door panels on an '00 s2k. I want tweeter mounts built in to the door panel but dont want to cut and do it myself. I cant find a proper spot to do it. These come with them.

edit: welcome back.

AP1 had optional tweeters, can’t you just install those?

welcome back OP

I haven’t worked with the AP2 panels specifically, but I have taken AP1 off before and its a breeze. Most door panels are held on by 3-5 phillips screws, and the rest are clips that just pop right off. The new door panels should have the same spots for screws and clips, can’t say for certain though.

As far as mounting tweeters go, I put four component speakers in my Sentra and used a hole saw to cut holes in the front doors for the front speakers, and the rear pillar between the rear windshield and rear doors. It’s actually a lot easier than you’d think. Just match the hole saw up to your tweeter size, drill it out, then use a file to widen it bit by bit til the tweeter fits snug. Use hot glue or electrical tape on the back to secure it if you make the hole a bit too big.

See thats the thing. I dont know where on the door do the drilling. At the top is all different angles, along with that is leather in the middle of the door, then the lower part is to low. I’ll have to get a picture of the doors up to show you what I’m saying. I know how to take door panels off with no problem. Done some extensive stereo work on any car I have owned, but the most being the mazda I currently own. I j ust dont feel like screwing up.

Well the tweeters should only be connected to the crossover by two wires, so you should be able to extend those as much as you want. Meaning you could probably run them through the rubber loom that protects the wires going from the door to the dash of the car, and mount them somewhere on the dash or pillar. If you can, I’d opt for a piece of the dash that can be easily replaced in the event that something does go wrong with the install.

When I installed them in my car it was the first time I had ever custom installed component speakers into any part of the dash, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it. It’s actually a really easy install.

AP1 from 02-03 have tweeters and are cheaper than AP2 door panels…

look for some of those

Well I dont want a sloppy install or something looking out of place. I want as clean as can be. I know a good amount about wiring/stereos in general. I have dont a full change over from bose in my mazda 6 that took about 11 hours with 3 people working on it. Pain in the fucking ass.

I just want something clean and good sounding. I think the dash will be a bad area for the speakers and maybe not enough room to look right on the pillars.

I’d honestly probably have to look at it to figure out the best spot. I looked up some pictures of the door panel online and I didn’t see too many good spots for the tweeter to be mounted. Mostly because I’d be really hesitant about cutting through leather. Regardless, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

lol exactly what I was getting at. It will be a bitch!

they always come crawling back

welcome again lol
