This driver may have revved his engine up a little too high at an indoor tractor pull.
ooopsies…that sux he had a good pull going too

my friends pulling tractor…2 v-12 allison aircraft engines supercharged on alcohol…5,000 hp…goes through 12 gallons on fuel in 300 feet…used to have 3 v-12s but nytpa only lets them have 2
There is some insane energy there to not only separate the block like that but to send it 20some-odd feet into the air? Nuts. Very cool.
the first video is overseas…notice there is no cage protecting the driver? less safety restrictions overseas…not saying it couldn’t happen in the states b/c it does, but other parts have “diapers”…the tranmissions have diapers and blankets so the driver and others arent killed by shrapnel…most of the modified tractors have straps on their superchargers so when it does gernade the straps hold it from flying in the air…kinda like dragsters with their safety precautions…it is sick that i made it 20 ft in the air
wow thats one hell of an engine failure.
what in the hell?
looks to be bottom end detonation but im not sure
was travis driving it at the time?
naaah john was driving, travis said everything was ok and smelled normal and to keep going
The energy to toss the block up in the air comes from the energy that is stored in the form of compressed air in the cylinders. I will admit that was a pretty impressive block toss! These diesels are probably 18:1 at 100 psi, with big displacements. There really is a lot of energy there.
As for the block failure, damn that was cool. I watched the video several times. I’m inclined to think the failure is from fatigue of the block. When your up at crazy alternating stress levels, things can fatigue pretty quickly.
It could be a big ignition in the crankcase (2 stroke) but I doubt it as that would have sent a lot of shrapnel around and into the audience, not that a block flying around is not dangerous enough!
Awesome vid, thanks for posting, plus rep! :thumbup
so how do they score this and everything, is it based on distance and time or what?
it kinda looks like it broke a lil
distance…whomever pulls the furthest wins
how in the HELL do you get that shit to happen? fucking miracles
quite simple but from what i see/hear, difficult as fuck!
wow… that was crazy
weight and torque…last yr the animal blew a rearend apart…the imput shaft bearing went bye bye…we were picking up bearing all the way down the track
This^. you’d think they’d start mandating kevalr straps or similar like other sanctioning bodies do for blowers and crap.
ka-boom. love it.
