No, it actually mounts to the control arm mounts. There were already holes there and the brace comes with threaded mounting plates. The mounts get sandwiched between the brace and the mounting plates. If you look close at the pic, you can see the factory frame rail brace just behind the control arm brace (I’m assuming you’re talking about the front?)

I used a ton of grease on my front bar but it creaks like an old bed now. But thats better than the clunks I was getting from the other bar.
