Its an 03 Ranger, and it throws code for Intake manifold runner stuck open.
What’s the best way to diagnose this, I checked all the vac lines and they seem ok.

I am not sure how to go about this, but I had to post this.
Bump for the morning crew
"Just get yourself a code reader. My F-150’s light came on, and it began pinging a bit, and just running sluggish. I plugged in my code reader and got “intake manifold runner control stuck open, bank one”.
After some internet Ford forum research, the good news was that I discovered it was very likely just a little plastic retainer bushing that broke, allowing an arm from a vacuum actuator to the bank one manifold runner to fall out. The bad news was that it was on the back of the engine, between the intake manifold and firewall, impossible to see (and seemingly impossible to work on) however with an inspection mirror I confirmed that the arm was just laying there and bushing missing from it’s hole, so the runners (butterflies) could flap open and closed, messing with the fuel mixture.
I took it to a dealer and they wanted over $600 to fix, saying that the manifold and other parts would have to be removed, so I thanked them and went to the parts dept and bought a couple bushing for $6 (in case I dropped/lost one, which I did) and went home and to first try to fix it myself. Turns out I didn’t have to remove but a couple minor items from the firewall to allow room for my arm, then squeezed my hand in and after about an hour of feeling around (and some minor cuts and bruises) I got the new bushing pushed in, and the arm clicked in place."
That helps, thanks
I’m here for you.
Easy fix
Check vac. lines going to imrc sensor. They usually crack. If those check ok, replace imrc sensor. I beleive its dealer part only.
Common problem with those Ford trucks
Good Luck!
make sure the arms didnt fall off , if its not an directly controled by the pcm… ive had to replace the clips that hold the arms on enough times before…
I can’t speak for the pickups but the 96-99 taurus SHO the IMRC (intake manifold runner controll) often gets gunked up inside the intake so it has to be cleaned every once and a while or it will snap the cable that actuates the butterflies.
