So in all the preparations for Winged Warriors I have been doing many upgrades. Right now the car is very apart, but while working on the car a few things caught my eye. The biggest thing throwing up a red flag would be that when I went to upgrade my fuel pressure regulator there was already an upgraded one in there, which made me think, upgraded fuel pressure regulator, upgraded exhaust… What else was done to my car before I bought it!!! So I decided to take apart my ECU to find this…
This explains a lot. Like why when “stock” I was able to keep up with stock EVO’s, and why after the turbo upgrade I was able to keep up with badnewsmini’s EVO (clearly not stock). Everyone who ever took a ride in my car had said “this thing must be chipped” but I always just thought it was a factory freak or something. And now I have an MTM tune that is useless to me. I am going with a K04 tune soon and I am not sure if this ECU will make it unable to be tuned by another company. Just another hiccup on the road to getting this done before Winged Warrior.
You never noticed higher than factory boost pressures?

S4’s don’t come with a boost gauge from the factory, and I didn’t put one in until after I upgraded the Turbo’s to K04’s, so I always assumed that was what did it. I was only boosting 10.8Lbs.
MTM is nice stuff. You might want to see if they have software for K04s. Either way, thats a nice find. You could probably turn around and sell it on Audizine after you get new software.
mtm wont sell you software for “just” k04’s. they want you to buy all of their other stuff in stages. if you get something from them i would be really surprised.
if you are only boosting 10.8 on a tipchip then you have some problems to search for. i guess you havent gotten vag-com yet or else you would have known you were chipped from the first time you started it up.
i am not sur eif mtm requests less boost with their tip chip…but i was pretty sure it was a one bar chip. hopefully i am wrong and you dont have problems, otherwise you have 3 psi you need to go look for.
maybe he was hoping that with a tune/chip he’d gain a ton of power…
I’m sure he still will, but probably not nearly as much as he had previously thought he could…going from stock to tuned for more boost is a much more significant jump i would think than from one good aftermarket tune to another…
