My hollow doors had a few inches of solid endcaps so that you could plane them with no issues. I thought they were all like that…
They do, but he needs 4 inches shaved. There definitely isn’t that much in the endcaps. Maybe 2 inches on each. Cutting the top of the door brings in even more mods because of the frame and hardware locations.
no ability to re frame the opening?
this is starting to get way OT, but I assume that he doesn’t want 2 of the doors in his house to be at 80" while the other X number of doors are at 76".
We might should cut this convo off because it’s way OT and we are derailing sobo here. Joe, if you need help DIYing this, post a new thread. With the knowledge a bunch of us have, you could make an 80" door work.
I have a rather larger window going in my dining room…I will post pics; before and after.
I’ll just say that Alex is VERY professional. No Bullshit.
Here is my review…

Nice. As soon as I have the cash to start doing windows I will def have to get in touch.
Mods, can you move the posts about my doors to a new thread in here? Don’t want to clutter up his business posts.
Just let me know Joe, quotes are free after all.
As far as doors, don’t think I forgot about that. I put in some requests here and there but from what I understand your best bet will be a cutdown door. So, expect to pay for a stock door, plus labor for the cut down, plus labor for install.
Alex did an awesome job on 11 of my home windows for a great price. Comes highly recommended!
I know of a huge, potential project for you and your company. I will be calling you to explain what I know about this project. PM sent explaining what I know. Your build threads that are on this forum indicates that you are honest, and you and your company do a great job. Hopefully my boss agrees.
 He is 100% a stand up guy.
@sobo you running any deals right now? My boss is looking to get some work done on her house. Can I forward you the info?
Sure!
I’m always running a deal of sorts. I typically knock off 15-20% for all NY speeders and referral work.
I appreciate the lead.

@sobo whats the best way to get a hold of you? Text or Call or Email?
Pretty sure its always been Call. Both is cell and work number are right below his user name.
This quick review is way overdue, but I had Alex and crew out to the house to do a dozen windows about a year ago. Professional, quick, tidy, responsive. All of the things I’m totally not used to with regards to contractors. Windows are beautiful, easy to use, easy to clean. Great experience, and we’ll have them out again next year to do some more.
Probably don’t need this sticky anymore, or at least have Sobo’s dad’s company maybe?
