I had braces a few years ago at 28 and it wasn’t that bad, my teeth weren’t a candidate for invisalign. ( My eye teeth were sticking out farther than the rest of them, like fangs) Definitely something I had to get used to, but that only took a day or two.
My I think mine were $5200. Insurance paid $2000, and I did a HSA account to pay for the rest. I think I spent $2,000 or so out of pocket due to tax savings. I looked at it as a drop in the bucket for something I’ll have the rest of my life. I could have dropped that other $2000 on a watch or car part, but that is usually only going to last me a short while of enjoyment. To each their own I suppose.
Also if teeth are overlapping, you probably aren’t brushing them. It can affect your sleep. On occasion my jaw will pop multiple times when eating a meal. my teeth have always been bad, and two of the teeth are partials.
I know I haven’t posted any pics, and I probably won’t, but picture yourself smiling, that’s what it looks like, no one can tell.
Things I’ve noticed :
I have a very small lisp if I say anything with a “th” sound to it
First three or four days, my teeth were “itchy”, didn’t hurt just annoying
Taking them in and out is very easy, takes about 20 seconds, fingers only, and as time goes on it gets easier.
Cleaning is very easy, quick scrub with a lil toothpaste and brush, no biggie
I’ve taken it to restaurants, takes a few seconds in the bathroom, a little weird but whatever
After my first night of sleeping with them on, I took them out in the morning, teeth shifted IMMEDIATELY, I couldn’t see a change, but my bite was very different
No pain in general, only issue I had was my tray somewhat hurting the top of my mouth, did a lot of reading online, took my rotary tool and ground down a couple burrs I had found, then I was ok again
Now that my bites different, in the right hand corner of my mouth, I can feel the tray and I sort of nibble on it, kinda like a pen or pencil
After the first couple days, I’d forget they were there
-No more snacking, I have literally lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks, combined with my ordinary gym routine everyday, I’ve gotten more toned, and I use one less hole in my belt now
I go on tray two tomorrow afternoon, then 42 weeks to go =p
If they give you a retainer, MAKE SURE you wear it. You pretty much have to wear it forever it’s retarded. Your teeth always want to go back to their natural spot. My aunt wore hers for like 10 years. I wore mine for 1 and my teeth have moved a bit but not for anyone else to notice but me, and my bite hasnt been affected.

Not bad at all, seriously, I forget they’re there, and they’re not hard to remove
I’m not gonna lie, with the retainers on, all of my gaps are filled and you cannot see the aligners on my teeth, its like they’re fixed while they’re getting fixed!!
These last two months I’ve gone on a couple vacations and met a lot of new people, I have never loved my smile so much, I am absolutely thrilled with my decision.
I’m glad you’re as pleased with your results as I am with mine.
I’m glad I made the decision too. Like I said in my previous post, it’s not cheap, but it’s a small drop in the bucket for the rest of my life.
I love how unnoticable it is, no one knows I’m wearing it but my close friends/family. Way better than the braces I was rocking when I was younger.
Before you know it you’ll be almost done. These last couple months have flown by and I can’t believe I started #6 already.
I’ve found that when starting new trays, some hurt more than others. I guess it depends on how much that particular tray is shifting your teeth. It’s not unbearable, just a dull ache.
My last visit to the orthodontist went well, he is pleased with how my teeth are progressing and bumped me from 3 weeks per tray to 2. I should be done by mid-end of January.
My dentist says something about getting my teeth straightened every time I’m in there. Frankly I don’t give a fuck. I’ve got the overcrowding in the bottom and some chipped teeth from not wearing a cage in hockey in the past. My teeth chew food pretty decently. Good enough for me.
I can take some but then again I’m only 4 weeks into the process so there hasn’t been any noticeable movement in my teeth, my bite is 100000% different, when i put a new tray in, the effects take place within hours, after a day of having the same tray, there isn’t any pressure of keeping them on, I’ll post some pics with my trays in =)
I know its only been two months but do you guys have any updates?
Also I keep hearing Rob Ray in these radio commecials blabbing about 6 month braces and a few other alternatives. Anybody have experience with that? I had conventional braces when I was younger and they worked great but theyre starting to shift again and I want to get these chicklets under control before my mouth looks like that pit from Star Wars.
My last orthodontist appointment was the 16th. They removed the small nubs attached to my teeth that the invisalign used to move my teeth.
I’m done now with the exception of wearing a retainer as often as possible for the next month, then I can switch to wearing it nightly. They molded it immediately after the nubs were removed and it ensures that my teeth don’t start to shift back.
I’m extremely pleased with the results and my teeth are definitely 100% better than they were before.
