Wisdom reeth removal.

So my wisdom teeth need to be removed, they’re impacted which means it’s not gonna be fun.

Any recommendations on where to go? I have Unum dental insurance, I called one place and they don’t take it, so hopefully some where decent will.

You should be able to check with your insurance website to get a list of dentists that take it.

It’s not that bad. However, this is coming from someone who’s had root canals, veneers, caps, crowns and have busted my teeth in half a dozen or so times, lol.

I’ve had http://www.kuechleandirvingdds.com/ do a majority of my work, unless I needed a specialist.

Pro Tip - Go with local anesthesia, no sense in losing two days of your life because you’re all juiced up on the gas.

I had all 4 pulled at Elite/DrBobs dental on main st…the guy that pulled them was brutal (hes not there anymore)
Not sure I would recommend them. But if its surgery I would go to the hospital. They put you out and cut ou open

Yeah I only have 1 that’s partially sticking out of my guns the other ones might be under jaw bone which they would cut the jaw bone and then remove them, so it’s surgical. I’m not excited about it at all lol

Anyone ever go to Aspen Dental at the McKinley Mall? I went for a “free consultation”, then when they see if my insurance covers the procedure, they say it covered like $1,200 of the $3,700 to perform the wisdom teeth removal.

I’d have to pay or take out a loan for the remaining balance of $1,820.00

Looks like I need to look for other places. Is it me or did that price seem insane?

Considering I just dropped over 5k on my kid’s teeth (after insurance) nothing in dental prices surprises me anymore. Still waiting for the bill for the apicoectomy I had to have done last week on one of my teeth.

I do like my dentist, Dr Glennon. He takes Unum which I also have.

And if you’re dealing with the orthodontist level of work needed I can’t say enough about Dr Falsafi. Everyone at her office has been great with my daughter and even though we’re about 1.5 years from finalizing her treatment plan we’re already seeing major results. She takes a much more modern approach to fixing teeth. Instead of pulling teeth to make room and just slapping on braces they work to expand the bones to make more room. This has major implications later in life because it opens up more airway and greatly reduces the likelihood of breathing/sleeping issues down the road.

Dr. Scott is who took mine out. Both uppers last spring, one being impacted, set me back about $300 total after insurance.

+1 for Dr. Scott. He did mine 9 or 10 years ago, I don’t remember it being that bad. Eating sucked for a few days afterwards.

it’s really not that bad. I just had mine done last year

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll give him a call.

I’m currently schedule for a consultation with stellar dental, they claim the surgery would be about $2,000 if someone had no insurance, so my plan should cover $1,500.

I’ll call Dr Scott to see if there is something sooner for me. I guess it was a bad idea waiting on this now that I’m in pain from it now.

Inspire Dental in West Seneca did mine about 8 years ago.

Did a real nice job, and did not pull all 4 because two of them were too close to a nerve and my sinus. They said it was not worth the risk.

8 years later have not had any further problems. Except a click in my jaw sometimes, but no pain.

I was down for the count for about 3-4 days, and took off work a week. Stay on top of the salt water rinse and follow instructions 100 percent you do not want any infection to set in.

I prefer a dentist and oral surgeon who is conservative in their practice, and just won’t yank all four without thinking about all the risks.

My procedure was 40 minutes long, I was knocked out with an IV, then they took a high speed dental saw and sawed the teeth out in quarters, and stitched it up. I was back home in bed within 90 minutes of surgery.

Do not go to a place that uses a fucking hammer and chisel, that is old school way and causes much more pain.

My wife went to WNY Dental Group on Delaware to get hers done. It’s actual just who we go to for all our stuff. Her one was super impacted, the oral surgeon that does that type of stuff for them said it was the worst he had seen up to that point. Took him 40 minutes to do the bad one. The other one was a breeze. Her Novocaine started to wear off a bit and the thing that held her mouth open bruised her face but overall she liked the guy and if it really was as bad as he said I’d say she did pretty good. She walked into the waiting room and just started balling with a bruised face. It’s funny in hindsight cause I can’t imagine what all the other patients waiting were thinking.

I always have a good experience with them but obviously where your insurance is accepted is going to be a factor.

I’ll ok if I never have to have another one of those done in my life.

Thanks for all the info. I usually don’t worry too much about things, but it is a bit scary to think about this surgery. Sometimes people die from getting sedated so I have heard.

I’ll spare you my horror story. Cliffs: 2nd surgery, dry socket x4, broken/fractured jaw, hallucinations on pain meds, 4 MP’s to restrain me, UCMJ article 15, demoted two ranks, 2 months extra duty and a week in the hospital afterward. Military butchers…

i used: Robert Warner on Adam Street off river road.

Was around $1700 cash / no insurance at the time .

no IV. just nitrous ’ of course  ’ and carboncaine

I was good in 2 days. No stitches needed, No dry sockets etc.

Since then he has done couple implants on me, cavity’s, 2 other teeth pulled, 1 root canal.

If Dr. Kevin is still doing surgeries at Williamsville Family Dentistry, do it. I did mine 100% awake, no gas, bottom two
impacted bad. Did this when I was deep in my 20s. In and out in 30-45 minutes, was like $1k or so at that time for dodging gas and IV. Took one pain pill, hated it, only took ibuprofen after that. No issues, eating and drinking pretty normally within 3 days. I’d never pay to go under after doing it awake, even if they’re impacted, but I also have a pretty high pain tolerance.

I was actually hoping to be completely out because I was worried about hearing crunching sounds and shit like that lol

But now I’m thinking about if they drug me wrong and I die, so now I guess I don’t want to be completely out.

When I was younger like 10 years old or so, I had 4 teeth pulled, and I think they didn’t wait for the Novacan to kick in or something. They had to give me 2 shots. I remember crying and screaming, I remember the ride home laying across the back seats of my mom’s car with bloody rags in my mouth and tasting blood. Idk I guess that fucked me up or something lol

anytime I go to the dentist I have wireless headphones and rock pandora or whatever music is on my phone so I don’t hear a thing. I just keep my eyes closed and tell them to tap me if they need me or when finished.
