Wisdom Teeth question

Im getting two on my right side pulled on Thursday. The lower one is impacted. My dentist said im getting novicane only. I’ve talked to a few people who had it done and they say they were put under during the procedure. My question is… should I request being put under or is it up to the dentist? Also im having it performed by my general dentist, should I be going to an oral surgeon?

Yes you need to speek to a oral surgeon… it would be better to get put under you dont need to be

calling josh(LAFENGAS)?

i had 2 that were impacked i was put under by a oral surgen. my gf is getting hers out in 2 weeks none of them are impacked and she is also getting put under. id get a second opinion

Eh, I’ve had all 4 pulled out, all 4 were impacted.

I got put under for one that was “very complicated”.

Local was fine for the rest, crunching and sawing feel and sound a bit awkward at first.

Why is it better to be put under? Are general dentist not qualified to perform this procedure?

Now im getting nervous.

I read online that they usually put you under if you’re having all four removed at once. Im only have two on my right side. I should probably call the dentist or speak to someone on his staff.

Had 4 out. Didn’t get put under but they did manage to crack my jaw. :frowning:

A dds can do it just fine … but you will pay the same(if you have insurance) for the extraction… with the oral/maxillofacial guy that is what he does all day … just make a call dude … and talk to them they will answer any question you have

such a creepy noise, I remember when I was little they gave me novicane for a few teeth and 1st shot wasn’t enough so my dentist gave me another but never waited I think I could feel it at first idk I remember the sound… Gross.

then I just recently last summer went to to the dentist they reccommend
Some more teeth to be pulled but I never scheduled it… It’s so they don’t grow in and push my other teeth around…

:banghead: huh?

+1 go for oral surgeon!

Had all 4 impacted, he put me under, woke up in no pain, didnt even take the pain meds.

I had 4 removed at once, 2 were impacted. I went to an oral surg. for mine though. I wasn’t knocked out, just got novicaine and gas, stayed awake the whole time and didn’t feel crap.

It will cost more to be “put under” since you now have an anesthesiologist to cover, plus the inherent risks associated with anesthesia (never waking up).

That said, I sure as shit will be knocked the fuck out when I do mine.

All people react differently to things like Novocain / Lidocaine. I know Lidocaine doesn’t do shit for me and Novocain barely does… make sure you know how you will react before signing up for extractions under local based on someone telling you they “didn’t feel shit”

I got all 4 pulled out at once and I was put under. There was no way that I was not going to be awake. My general dentist did it too, but most, if not all dentists are qualified for execrations. So, I wouldn’t worry about that. Just grab and pull, how hard is that? lol

My dad picked my up after and drove me home, I was sooooo loopy, he asked “is it like getting stoned?” and stupid me said “Yeah, kinda” BUSTED.
not like he cared or anything, he was a pot head when he was younger. lol

IV sedation here, yanked all 4 in the army. woke up to a broken jaw, 2 days later MP’s were there trying to get into my room, more surgery, big blur of prescription drugs and cheap booze, dry socket and loss of rank and pay. otherwise a great time was had by all.

Nitrous Oxide plus IV drip. = Best time of my life

Dude has his workboots up on my chest trying to pull an impacted molar and I couldn’t give 2-shits…

IMO, request the gas

I just had novocaine and had 2 impacted. I just gave my surgeon a tap on the arm when I needed more. He was happy to numb me up some more.

I don’t know how much truth there is to it, but I heard the more anesthetic you have, the more likely you are to develop dry sockets. It doesn’t really make any sense to me though. I’m just repeating what I heard from people prior to my procedure.

impacted = bad

get a oral surgeon to put you to sleep anytime you can. mine were in when they pulled them so novicane was fine but anytime they need to go under the skin, oral surgeon is something you will not regret.

How do you get a broken jaw??:meh:

the lowers were jammed under the others pretty good, and they cracked the one side real good, bordering on them needing to wire it shut, but they didn’t end up doing it. i had shards of what i thought were bone and cracked pieces of teeth working their way out of my gums in the back for the better part of a year. they made a god damned mess in there…
