iPhone on Verizon!!!!

I will hook you up on some sweet drugs for a bionic pre release. K thanks.

Beer. A lot of it.

i’ll do what i can, but i have to be honest, ive never even heard of this phone. I’m way too busy generally to spend time on phone nerd sites anymore.

See Beer Thread

I’m pretty sure Verizon’s ‘unlimited’ data plans are limited to 5gb; I’m not exactly sure how charges work if you exceed this.

see what i mean? people have no clue, but continue to just spew mis-information.

That’s what they guy at my Verizon store told me also. is that not true?

the unlimited plan on smartphones is truly unlimited.

The 5gb plan for mobile broadband devices is… 5gb.

the 2gb mobile hot spot plan for smartphones is… 2gb.

lol i have seen people show their data usage around the 10gb mark, clearly not a 5gb cap

i have yet to own any phone with a data plan due to the fact that i think an additional $30 a month is ridiculous not to mention the gf will also need it so that is $60 more a month. Is the 150mb package even worth it at all. My current phone is haggard and even if i warranty it im stuck with a pos phone that i have to pay for a data plan anyways. I do get 20% off but i think that is only on my line. Any input

totally ridiculous. why on earth would companies charge for additional services. rat bastards! and fucking girlfriends, not pulling their own weight, costing us more!

150 mb package is typically ok on blackberrys. droids seem to use more bandwidth than that on average months. it really depends on how you are using the phone.

if your phone is “haggard” they might not honor the warranty, as physical and liquid damage can void it.

the only phones that require data anymore are smartphones.

its an envy 2 the front of the phone dosnt work at all and besides the scratches it fine. If the 150mb was not enough would they up it for me?

they would charge you another $15 and give you another 150 mb. start on unlimited and gauge your usage, make changes if applicable.

So, the ‘unlimited’ is honestly unlimited? I have pulled over 20GB in a month on ATT, and never had issues. I average 5-10GB a month, for years now. It really does suck that most providers are dropping unlimited plans, and consumers aren’t outraged. It would be great if Verizon has a legit unlimited plan. It might help sway ATT into something better than 2GB for $25…

And honestly, lack of simultaneous data and voice really would be a issue for me. I do understand most people wouldnt know or care, so it’s probably fine for the average user. It does however take away from the ‘user experience’ Apple strives to maintain.

how the hell do you do 5-10GB on your mobile? Do you ever put the thing down?

It’s honestly fairly easy. It auto downloads ‘HD’ podcasts that are about 400-600MB, App updates can be 50-200MB, I constantly download new apps, some Tethering, some torrenting…

If the Internet at a hotel isn’t free, I just tether to my phone, and usually wind up torrenting movies for the trip back home. Plus, higher quality music streams ain’t no joke. I somewhat often stream a 320CBR MP3 Internet radio station at work. Hours of that takes lots of data…

The VAST majority of my data use is by legal means, using apps from the App store.

yes, its really unlimited on smartphones.

maybe im missing something, but the iphone cant really multitask. so beyond getting emails while on the phone, or google-ing something while on a call, what is the big deal about simultaneous v&d? in a pinch, you can connect to wifi for that as well.

maybe its because i hardly talk on the phone. whatever.

They do have bit torrent apps for phones. Maybe that?

Lots of new apps support background uploading, and downloads. Podcasts download in the background, 720P videos upload in the background, apps download and update in the background… If you have hundreds of Apps, are never in a wifi area, this can be important. If I get a call, it would drop the video upload, which would need to be restarted. I’m sure there’s more cases.

No, it’s not THAT big of a deal. But I do like the ability to surf the web while on a call. I just did two days ago, looking at flights while being on hold to get a refund for my canceled flight. Otherwise, I’d have to wait until the hour phone call was over to use my phones data. If I was tethering my phone at the same time, it would really suck.

^ This. I only seem to use the talk + data at the same time when I travel, especially for work. It would suck being on conference calls and not being able to RDP to my desktop or surf the interwebs.

And I love the Apple haters always trying to stick “it doesn’t really multitask” in there.

For 99% of users, it will multitask all the stuff they actually want running in the background while suspending all the other stuff. What that means is you get all the good stuff of multitasking without the headaches of having to constantly close out apps or risk having your battery be dead within a couple hours.
