Ok, I think Firestone is trying to slip me the shaft. I have a lifetime alignment from them. I got it in Dec of 06. I got another alignment in Mar 07. As well as that second alignment, I got a new set of tires, which I opted to get the optional tire warranty as well. This was less than 90 days ago, and I have put about 3500 miles on the car since then. I was about to rotate my tires the other day when I noticed my front tires are wearing VERY abnormally, like the alignment is pulling to the right. When I got my 2nd alignment done, they gave me a printout of the alignment, to show it was good.
Now here’s my question… I have the warranties from the tires, the lifetime alignment, and Firestone also has a warranty that covers their work for 90 days/4,000 miles (which ever comes first). So I took it down to Firestone today, and the guys say my tires are shredded and they want me to get new tires. They also tell me the alignment is WWAAAYYY off. I tell them cool… they should be for free right? I have those different warranties that should cover me, I should be good. They say no. The manager gives me the sympathy crap and tells me “to try to make it right” he will buy one tire, and I’d have to pick up the bill on the other. I ask him, for s***s and giggles, how fast he could have my tires… he calls up the warehouse… he says 2 days and he wants to know if I want to take that “deal”. I tell him I’d have to think about it (with my lawyer). He says he will order both, just in case.
So should I scare them off with my friend who’s an attorney… call the district office and talk to them… or am I overreacting? I think that because they messed up my alignment, and killed my brand new tires, that they should buy me new ones… opinions?
I agree that they should be picking up the tab. But I doubt that will happen. Have your Friend call them up and put the fear of god in them, and then have him call the district office too.
no its just that they dont want to give you any money cause then they loose commision so they would rather let you call there boss and have them deal with it
I’ve read all the warranties… seems like my best bet is the 90 day/ 40,000 mile warranty on the alignment… It says on their scheduled maintaince to get an alignment every 6 months… I got one after 2.5. And a incompetent worker hardly seems to be a reason for them to jype me. I called the corporate and district offices. Filed a claim… I’m suppose to hear back in 2-3 days. If not… lawyer time.
Make sure you have all the documents, present them to the manager at the Firestone facility - and if that doesn’t work, be sure to have all of the documents when you speak to your lawyer.
The key is having all of the records. If you’re missing one reciept or something, they’ll write you off like what you were said to have is invalid.
F Firestone. We’re dealing with a crappy situation at my work with them. One of their employees to be specific, but it’s the whole company that is showing disrespect.
