is it gone?

ok so heres the deal. i bought a 1989 240sx coupe with 118000km on her. and i think my clutch it done. he said he put a “racing” clutch in it which is complete bull since you could hear that the release bearing was toast. his excuse for that was that the clutch had weights on it that flew when spinning lol. so anyway heres whats wrong.

  1. it wont stay in reverse
  2. hard to put it in first
  3. grinds when going into second

so is my clutch gone? sorry if you think its a dumb question but i dont really have any experience with clutches since its my first car.

if you knew he was feeding you bullshit and straight up lied to your face! why in the world would you still buy the car in the first place!

wouldnt you buy a car with 118000 km, no rust, great condition for $1600 and all it needed was a clutch?

and judging by the amazing underbody it hasnt been winter driven

who knows what else you’ll find, that you won’t like.

hope it’s just the clutch that douche lied to you or hid from you!

^ my point exactly… if he lied about the clutch he almost certainly lied about something else…! just my opinion… i would never buy a car or deal with anyone that i know is lieing to me… just for the fact that hes lying to me! shows disrespect… i wont deal with that kind of people… no matter how how good of a deal it may seem… key word SEEM

At what point is the clutch engaging? (peddle position)
Does it go into gear smoothly when the car is off?

Did you try adjusting the clutch?
Does it need bleeding?
Is there fluid in the reservoir?
