Heres the deal… sold it with the clutch being bad… kid put a clutch in it and says that that wasn t the problem… Here’s the Story…
When i owned it the car it would act as if the clutch was 1/4 engadged and you would start the car and it would take off! { yes I bleed it and it still did it! } Some times it would just work like normal and you could drive it for 3-5 miles with smooth shifts… and reverse worked perfect…
Now the kid put the clutch in it and even put a master cylinder and slave in it… basic mechanics… and he claims it doesn t have reverse and it won t go into get smoothly…
Anyone ever have anything like this happen? b4 it was smooth… parked it and the clutch started giving me issuses from sitting… I figured it as being a weak pressure plate or bad Throw out bearing… so i sold the car since we sold the our one shop and im sick of working on cars all the time!
So anyway this kid calls me and says he doesn t have reverse and its having a hard time going into say…3rd and 5th?
Thats why you have to write a bill of sale with “no warranty, as is” on it and keep a copy for yourself. sorry, but that’s how it needs to be. unless it’s a friend, then you’re compelled to help him.
thats kind of odd cause i had a 94 integra and it was in excellent running condition nothing wrong with it at all when i sold it and the person that bought it ended up having the same problem as the person that bought yours…he replaced the slave and master cylander and then had the problems with 3rd,5th and reverse but it ended up not being mechanical error it was driver error cause he was beating the living shit out of it and ended up blowing the tranny, suspension, and then the motor in one month. and that motor had a brand spanking new crank and bearings car ran excellent. anyways what i am trying to say is don’t worry about it it’s not your problem anymore if the car was sold as is private seller there is nothing that the kid can do besides kick himself in the ass for beating on it, and if there was any type of warranty that would have been void due to him trying to do it himself.
look im gonna hafta agree with g3arh3ad…he shouldnt have been screwing with the car or beating it…either way it wasnt your fault, and he bought it knowing that there was some tinkering that needed done by somebody who could tinker…screw him, not your car so not your problem
