Is it possible to run S15 6spd on an S13 blacktop ?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has ever tried or knows for a fact if the S15 SR20DET 6spd transmission bolts on to the S13 blacktop SR20DET ?

It might because the block is the same or no the block is different at where the bellhousing mates the block ? I have no idea I’ve searched but did not find any definate answers

Are these transmissions available in Canada from importers ?

Let me know guys… thanks…

Don’t know if this will help, but I heard it basically sucks and is gonna brake 10x quicker than teh 5spd will and there’s no point of doing it.

not sure if it will bolt on…

I’ve heard that it does bolt on but you will need the S15 helical lsd and output shafts. I think this is cause the speed sensor is on the diff so it will also require some custom wiring.

These trannys are really expensive though. I saw one on zilvia for $800usd. And sure the tranny is weaker since there are six gears in the same space as a 5spd but not many people on this board would approach the limit of the 5 or 6 speed.

they are weaker since the gears are thinner most people swap from 6 speed to 5 in japan who have s15s with higher power, also you need the entire rear end pumpkin and all including the driveshaft and then you have to wire it in a figure it out.

i’ve actually heard of a way to hook up a r33 rb25det transmission, which apparently doesnt have the manual cable in the trans to a r32/a31. This may work for a s13 also.

You somehow take a reading from the ABS sensor in one of the wheels.

Read is someplace a long time ago,

Check SDU and other aussie forums.

I think i read on FA of a guy producing adapter plates to bolt on Z32 tranny’s to sr’s.

^^ Ya, Hinson I think makes them… About 1100USD with everything you need, heh

hmm… i think i’ll be on the lookout for a s15 6spd, i’ll just get a lightweight driveshaft made while im at it, i need one anyway, im not looking to make maddddddd power so if it can hold for the stock s15 sr it’ll hold for mine, anything else anyone ?

what do you think you are going to gain by going to the six speed?

^^ an extra gear? depending on the ratios, better gas mileage? better acceleration? higher top speed?

who gives a crap

actually the gear ratios on the 6 speed are exacally the same except for 6th so all you will gain is better gas mileage and lack of short shifter avliability.

so basically he is doing to alot of work and money to have a weak tranny and better gas mileage.

Extra gear for wangan battaloos

Masworx is the dudes that do teh Z32 tranny adapters for SR20 but you have the have them modify the bellhousing as well…

super mad wicked expensive after you factor in double international shipping, customs, taxes, buying the parts, wait times etc.etc.

but appuuuruntly dem shits be mad wicked yo!

Or swap in an LS1, you get your 6spd tranny, and a 400hp V8 for free!

an extra inch.

id rock a 6 speed too…

i think that would be really nice to have combined with the ca stock rear end gears.

This might be the answer to my problem with the 2.3Turbo swap.
However, the cost of this might be through the roof.

werd…

if i came across a set up for cheap i would switch it up…

May I suggest not attempting this on your own?
