I have a '95 LE 5spd with 215,xxx km’s on it. I bought it at 203,xxx km’s with paperwork showing that a full clutch assembly was replaced in my car at 196,xxx km’s.
Wierd thing is, since the day I got the car, the odd time when I launch from a stop it feels like the clutch chatters. This problem has gotten worse lately. It has happened so badly sometimes that I have had to put the clutch back in a try launching again because of intense chattering.
Before you guys say anything about my driving skills, I do not beat on my car (badly) and I have been driving standard for years before I got this car (ie: no riding the clutch).
A little off topic but it will loop right in with what im talking about in a sec; When I start my car, my engine rocks a fair bit, more than I would expect it to. Also, when idling, if I floor the gas, the engine hesitates for a long time before the revs shoot up. AND, when I do this the shifter shakes around like a child on too much ridelin.
So, what I’m thinking is that my motor mounts/tranny mount may be so badly gone that when I go to launch my car from a light, the engine/trans shakes around violently making it seem like a chattering clutch.
Any input on this?
PS: when I say ‘launch’ I don’t mean dropping the clutch at 6k and taking off, I just mean everyday driving.
